Read the manual before operation; use only as specified, avoid children handling, and dispose of batteries responsibly.
Calibrate the meter before each use or after long periods of disuse for accuracy.
Turn on the meter using the power button and check batteries if the LCD does not activate.
Position the meter correctly, directing the microphone towards the sound source.
Select A or C weighting for sound measurements based on human ear response or flat response.
Choose FAST for peak capture or SLOW for averaging changing sound levels.
Calibrate the SL510 using a 94.0dB signal at 1kHz with an external calibrator.
