Overview

This document outlines the features, usage, and maintenance of the EZVIZ smart peephole device, available in two models (A and B) that differ primarily in their mounting structure but offer identical functionality and performance.

Function Description:

The EZVIZ smart peephole is a comprehensive security device designed to enhance home safety by providing a clear view of your doorstep and enabling remote interaction. It consists of an outdoor camera unit and an indoor panel, both equipped with various sensors and interfaces for optimal operation.

The outdoor camera unit features a lens for capturing video, a bell for visitor notification, a microphone for audio input, and multiple sensors. These sensors are crucial for intelligent detection features, such as PIR infrared detection for motion sensing and human shape detection, which help differentiate between general movement and human presence. The camera is designed to provide clear images even in dark environments, with an "Enforcing Night Mode" that keeps the IR mode on.

The indoor panel serves as the primary interface for users. It includes a Micro SD Card Slot for local storage of recordings, a Home Button for powering the device on/off and controlling the screen, a Power Port for charging, a Touch Screen for interactive control, a Data Interface for connecting to the camera unit, and a Loudspeaker for audio output. The panel allows users to view live feeds, take snapshots, record videos, and select video resolution (Ultra HD, Hi-Def, or Standard). It also supports multi-screen live view for monitoring multiple devices simultaneously.

The device integrates with the EZVIZ app, which is essential for its full functionality. Through the app, users can connect the peephole to their Wi-Fi network, add it to their EZVIZ account, and manage various settings. The app provides access to live view, device settings, call logs, and allows sharing of the device with family members or guests.

Usage Features:

The EZVIZ smart peephole offers a range of features to enhance user experience and security:

  • Intelligent Detection: Users can customize detection sensitivity to ensure timely alerts. Features like PIR Infrared Detection and Human Shape Detection provide accurate motion sensing. Advanced detection, such as "Loitering detection," triggers alarms if people linger around the doorway for an extended period, helping to deter suspicious activity. Alerts are delivered both on the device and through app notifications.
  • Working Modes: The device offers several working modes to optimize performance and battery life:
    • User Mode: Allows customization of detection sensitivity and loitering duration.
    • Performance Mode: Improves device performance at the expense of increased power consumption.
    • Power Saving Mode: Adjusts sensitivity and other parameters to extend battery life.
    • Super Power-saving: Activates sleep mode, with active live view capable of waking up the camera.
    • Configure Working Mode: Allows customization of working modes for different time periods.
  • Audio and Image Settings: Users can enable or disable audio for live view and recorded videos. Image settings include Auto-Switch Day/Night Mode, Day and Night Switch Sensitivity, Enforcing Day Mode (IR mode off), and Enforcing Night Mode (IR mode on for clear dark images).
  • Notifications: Customizable notifications can be set for both device-side alerts and app-side messages.
  • Cloud Storage and Local Recording: The device supports both cloud storage (subscription-based) and local recording via a Micro SD card. Users can manage their cloud storage and view the device's storage status, including memory card information.
  • Security Settings: Video encryption can be enabled to protect recordings, and users can change their encryption password for enhanced security.
  • Wi-Fi Management: Users can view the connected Wi-Fi network and switch to another if needed. Static DNS can be customized. Wi-Fi Sleep Mode offers "Low Power Mode" and "Ultra-Low Power Mode" options to conserve battery.
  • Smart Home Integration: The EZVIZ peephole is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing users to control the device and view live feeds using voice commands. This requires turning off "Image Encryption" in the EZVIZ app for integration.
  • Device Sharing: Users can invite family members or guests via email or phone number to grant them permissions to access the device.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your EZVIZ smart peephole:

  • Environmental Care: Avoid exposing the camera to harsh environments such as high temperatures, humidity, salt mist, or rain to prevent damage.
  • Physical Handling: Do not press the sensor or lens of the camera, as this can cause damage. Protect the camera wire from being pulled hard or cut, as damage due to inappropriate operation is not covered under warranty.
  • Power Adapter: Always use the exclusively provided power adapter to charge the panel to prevent system damage.
  • Micro SD Card Management: If using a Micro SD card, regularly check its status in the EZVIZ app. If it displays as "Uninitialized," tap to initialize it to enable video storage.
  • App Updates: Ensure the EZVIZ app is always updated to the latest version for optimal performance and access to new features. Check the app store for updates regularly.
  • Charging Guidelines:
    • Do not charge through the interface at the bottom of the panel.
    • The panel can also be charged via a portable charger and hung on the hook.
    • Avoid charging the device when the temperature exceeds 45 degrees Celsius or falls below 0 degrees Celsius.
  • Factory Reset: If needed, the device can be restored to factory settings by tapping "Settings -> Firmware -> Default" in the EZVIZ app. This will revert all configurations to their original state.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues, such as Alexa failing to discover the device or the device appearing "Offline" on Alexa, suggesting checks for internet connectivity, device restarts, and router status.
  • Sensor Care: Ensure that the sensors on the camera unit are not blocked to maintain accurate detection.
