What to do if there's persistent condensation on the window with my Fantech 250H-EC?
    • R
      Robert BoydAug 21, 2025
Persistent condensation on windows when using a Fantech Fan can be due to a few reasons. The dehumidistat control may be improperly adjusted, so reduce the desired level of humidity and combine this step with the use of continuous exchange mode. The HRV might be out of balance, so have a contractor balance the HRV. Poor air circulation near windows can also contribute; open curtains or blinds to improve airflow.

Why does the supply air feel cold from my Fantech 250H-EC Fan?
    • D
      David MartinezAug 25, 2025
If the supply air from your Fantech Fan feels cold, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The supply grilles may be poorly located, causing the airflow to irritate occupants; relocate the grilles high on the walls or under the baseboards, or install ceiling-mounted diffusers or grilles to avoid directly spilling the supply air on occupants (e.g., over a sofa). You can also turn down the HRV supply speed. A small duct heater (1 kW) could be used to temper the supply air. Placement of furniture or closed doors may restrict the movement of air in the home. If the outdoor temperature is extremely cold and the supply air is ducted into the furnace return, the furnace fan may need to run continuously to distribute ventilation air comfortably.

Why are my Fantech HRV and/or Ducts frosting up?
    • C
      Cynthia WallaceAug 27, 2025
If your Fantech Fan or its ducts are frosting up, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The HRV airflows might be improperly balanced, so have an HVAC contractor balance the HRV airflows. Alternatively, there may be a malfunction of the HRV defrost system; note that minimal frost build-up is expected on the core before the unit initiates defrost cycle functions.

Why is there condensation or ice build up in the insulated duct to the outside of my Fantech Fan?
    • A
      Amy ZhangSep 1, 2025
If you find condensation or ice building up in the insulated duct leading outside from your Fantech Fan, it could be due to an incomplete vapor barrier around the insulated duct; tape and seal all joints. Alternatively, there might be a hole or tear in the outer duct covering; tape any holes or tears and ensure that the vapor barrier is completely sealed.

How to fix air that is too dry with my Fantech Fan?
    • Z
      zhowellSep 4, 2025
If the air is too dry when using your Fantech Fan, the dehumidistat control may be set too low. To resolve this, increase the desired level of humidity and change the ventilation mode from continuous mode to standby.

What to do if the LED is flashing on my Fantech 250H-EC Fan?
    • L
      Lisa LawrenceSep 8, 2025
If the LED on your Fantech Fan is flashing, it may indicate that no power is being transmitted to the Control Board. Ensure the unit is plugged in. If it is, the transformer may need replacing.

Why is there poor air flow in my Fantech Fan?
    • C
      Connor SmithNov 12, 2025
Several factors can lead to poor airflow in your Fantech Fan. The 1/4" (6 mm) mesh on the outside hoods might be plugged, so you should clean the exterior hoods or vents. The filters could be plugged, so remove and clean the filter. The core might be obstructed, so remove and clean core. Ensure that indoor grilles are not closed or blocked; check and open them if necessary. An inadequate power supply at the site could be the issue, so have an electrician check the supply voltage. The ductwork might be restricting airflow, so check the duct installation. The speed control setting may be improper, so increase the speed of the HRV (i.e. change unit control from REDUCED to NORMAL speed). The HRV airflow might be improperly balanced, so have a contractor balance HRV airflows. Finally, the ducti...

Why is the air too humid when using my Fantech Fan?
    • K
      kelly36Nov 15, 2025
If the air in your home is too humid when using a Fantech Fan, there are several potential causes and solutions. First, the dehumidistat control may be set too high; reduce the desired level of humidity and combine this with the use of continuous exchange mode. A sudden change in temperature can also cause this; wait until the outside temperature stabilizes (especially in winter), and heating may also improve the situation. Storing too much wood for heating indoors can increase humidity; store a majority of your wood outside, as even dried wood contains a significant amount of water. Ensure the dryer vent is exhausting outside. Improve air circulation near windows by opening curtains or blinds. If you have a well-sealed basement door, open it or install a grill on the door. Lastly, a faile...
