Mower Blade Service
Mower Blade Removal
WARNING
Laceration Hazard
Mower blades are sharp.
Always wear gloves when handling blades or working near
blades.
1. Use a block of wood to keep the mower blade in place,
as shown in Figure 31.
2. Use a wrench to remove the blade hardware and blade
from the spindle.

Mower Blade Inspection
WARNING
Thrown Objects Hazard
Avoid injury: a worn or damaged mower blade can break, and
a piece of the blade could be thrown into the operator's area
or bystander's area, resulting in serious injury or death.
Do an inspection of the mower blades every 25 hours or
at least once per year.
If the mower blades hit a solid object, stop the engine
immediately and do an inspection of the mower blades.
Never weld or straighten bent mower blades.
1. Remove the mower blades from the unit. See Mower
Blade Removal.
2. Do an inspection of each mower blade (Figure 32).
Discard the mower blade(s) for any of the following
reasons:
More than .5" (12,7 mm) of the mower blade metal
has been removed from wear or having been
sharpened before (A, Figure 32)
