C.3 Glossary of terms
AUTORANGING
A power supply is autoran
g
in
g
if it can supply the maximum rated power over the
continuous ran
g
e of volta
g
e and current.
CALIBRATION MODE
In this mode the power supply can be adjusted to comply with external calibration
standards.
DRIFT
The maximum chan
g
e of the re
g
ulated output volta
g
e or current durin
g
an 8-hour
period (lon
g
term drift), followin
g
a 30-minute warm-up period (short term drift). All
influence and control quantities must remain constant durin
g
these periods.
Drift includes both random and periodic deviations over the bandwidth from zero
frequency (DC) to the upper frequency limit.
LOAD EFFECT (load re
g
ulation)
The load effect is the maximum chan
g
e in the steady state of the re
g
ulated output
volta
g
e or current, resultin
g
from a full load chan
g
e in the load current of a
CV supply or in the load volta
g
e of a CC supply.
LOCAL MODE
(opposite of the REMOTE mode)
In this mode the power supply can be operated locally via the keypad control
keys.
LOCAL SENSING
The volta
g
e is sensed directly at the power supply terminals. The power supply is
shipped from the factory with local sensin
g
.
OPERATE MODE
(opposite of the STANDBY mode)
In this mode the power supply is able to deliver power.
PARD
(ripple and noise)
P
eriodic And Random Deviation of the DC output volta
g
e or current from its
avera
g
e value over a specified bandwidth. All influence and control quantities
must remain constant.
PROGRAMMING ACCURACY
Maximum deviation between the pro
g
rammed value and the actual output value
(at calibration temperature
±
2
°
C).
