Step 6: Install the front wheel
The bike is shipped with an aluminum spacer installed in the fork dropouts to
prevent damage during shipment. Prior to installing the front wheel, this spacer
must be removed by first disassembling and removing the quick release skewer
assembly. Once removed, the aluminum spacer can be discarded. Do not discard
the quick release skewer assembly as it is needed to install the front wheel.
A. Install the quick release skewer through the front wheel. Ensure the orientation
of the conical springs matches the illustration below. The smaller end of the
conical spring will point in towards the wheel hub.
B. Align the wheel to the fork so that the fork dropouts rest on the axle. Ensure the
fork is fully seated on the axle, the wheel is centered on the fork, and the brake
rotor is centered in the caliper assembly.
C. Holding the lever, tighten the nut into place. Rotate the quick release lever to
secure the front wheel to the fork.
Note: Closing the quick release lever should require enough pressure that it leaves an imprint
in your hand. If it’s too easy or too dicult to close, adjust the lever tension by turning the
adjustment nut (“1” in the “Front wheel” illustration) opposite the quick release lever.
