Overview

The FS-BS4 is a digital proportional radio control system receiver designed for use in models, offering enhanced handling capabilities through its integrated gyroscope SVC function. This receiver is compliant with FCC Part 15 rules, ensuring it operates within specified interference limits.

Function Description

The FS-BS4 receiver serves as a crucial component in a radio control system, receiving signals from a transmitter to control various aspects of a model. Its primary function is to translate radio signals into commands for servos, power, and other connected parts. The integrated gyroscope SVC (Stability Vector Control) function is a key feature, designed to improve the model's handling and stability, making it easier to control, especially in challenging conditions.

Important Technical Specifications

The device features multiple ports for connectivity:

  • CH1 to CH4: These ports are used for connecting servos, providing power, or connecting other auxiliary parts of the model.
  • BIND/VCC: This dual-purpose port is used for the binding process with a bind cable and for connecting the power cable during normal operation.
  • SERVO: This port is specifically designed for connecting an i-Bus module, which allows for the extension of available channels, providing greater control flexibility.
  • SENS: This port is dedicated to connecting various types of sensors, enabling the collection of telemetry data or other environmental information from the model.

The receiver includes an LED status indicator that provides visual feedback on its operational state:

  • Off: Indicates that the power is not connected to the receiver.
  • Lit in red: Signifies that the receiver is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Flashing quickly: Denotes that the receiver is currently in binding mode, actively searching for a transmitter to pair with.
  • Flashing slowly: Indicates that the receiver is bound to a transmitter, but the transmitter is either off or the signal has been lost.

Usage Features

The FS-BS4 is designed for straightforward use, particularly concerning its binding process:

  1. Binding Procedure: To bind the receiver to a transmitter, the user must first insert the bind cable into the receiver's BIND port.
  2. Power Connection: Subsequently, the power cable should be plugged into any other available port on the receiver.
  3. Bind Mode Indication: Upon successful power connection, the receiver's LED will begin to flash quickly, confirming that it has entered bind mode and is ready to pair with a transmitter.

The gyroscope SVC function is a significant usage feature, enhancing the model's stability and control. This can be particularly beneficial for users who are new to radio control or for models that operate in environments where stability is crucial. The ability to connect an i-Bus module via the SERVO port allows users to expand the number of control channels, catering to more complex models or advanced control requirements. The SENS port further extends usability by enabling the integration of various sensors, which can provide valuable real-time data about the model's performance or environment.

Maintenance Features

While the manual does not explicitly detail maintenance features, the design implies a focus on user-friendliness and compliance. The FCC compliance statement is a crucial aspect, indicating that the device has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. This compliance ensures reliable operation and minimizes the risk of interference with other electronic devices.

Users are advised to be aware of potential interference issues and are provided with measures to correct them:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna: This suggests that proper antenna placement is important for optimal signal reception and can be adjusted if interference occurs.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver: Maintaining adequate distance between the receiver and other electronic equipment can help prevent interference.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected: This electrical isolation can reduce noise and interference.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help: This provides a clear pathway for users to seek expert assistance if they encounter persistent issues.

The FCC Radiation Exposure statement also provides important information regarding safe operation, stipulating that the equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and the user's body. This highlights a safety aspect that users should adhere to during installation and operation. The warning against unauthorized changes or modifications underscores the importance of maintaining the device's original configuration to ensure continued compliance and optimal performance.

In summary, the FS-BS4 receiver is a robust and compliant component for radio control systems, offering enhanced stability through its gyroscope SVC function, flexible connectivity options, and clear operational status indicators. Its design and accompanying guidelines aim to provide a reliable and user-friendly experience while adhering to important regulatory standards.
