Why does air re-enter the FoodSaver bag after vacuuming?

Air may re-enter the bag due to several reasons: A wrinkle along the seal may cause air to re-enter, so gently stretch the bag flat while inserting it into the drip tray. Moisture or food material along the seal can prevent proper sealing; in this case, cut the bag open, wipe the top inside, and reseal. Sharp food items may have punctured the bag, requiring a new bag. Also, fermentation or the release of natural gases from the foods may have occurred, indicating spoilage, and the food should be discarded.
