  If your FoodSaver's vacuum pump is running but the bag isn't evacuating, there are several potential causes. First, if you're making a bag from a roll, ensure one end is sealed properly; refer to the instructions on 'How to Make a Bag from a FoodSaver® Vacuum Sealing Roll'. Check for any wrinkles in the bag along the sealing strip, and adjust the bag to ensure a smooth surface. Open the unit and inspect the gaskets to make sure they are properly inserted and free of any foreign objects, dirt, or debris. Also, confirm that the lid is latched down completely. If the latch has been left in the 'On' position, the gaskets may be compressed; turn the latch to the 'Open' or 'Store' position and allow 10 to 20 minutes for the gaskets to expand.

Why is my FoodSaver FM3900 bag not sealing properly?

  If your FoodSaver bag isn't sealing properly, it might be due to a few reasons. If there's too much liquid in the bag, freeze it before vacuuming. Check for any food debris around the seal area that could be interfering with the seal. Also, make sure the bag is free of wrinkles; gently stretch it flat while inserting it into the vacuum channel to prevent wrinkles in the seal.

  If your FoodSaver container isn't vacuuming, ensure the lid is correctly placed and aligned. Press the Accessory Button. Make sure the lid is securely closed on all four sides. Check that the rubber gasket inside the lid is free from food residues. Examine the rim of the container for any cracks or scratches.

  If you cannot insert the bag into your FoodSaver machine, ensure there is enough bag material to reach the center of the drip tray. Gently stretch the bag flat while inserting it, and insert the bag curl down into the vacuum channel.

Why is the red seal LED flashing on my FoodSaver Food Saver?

  If the red seal LED on your FoodSaver is flashing, it could mean several things. The unit may be overheated; allow 20 seconds between seals to prevent this. If the appliance has been used heavily, it may shut off automatically, causing the light to flash. Also, ensure the latch isn't left in the 'On' position, as this can compress the gaskets; turn it to 'Open' or 'Store' and wait 10-20 minutes for them to expand. Wait for 20 minutes for the unit to cool off. If the vacuum pump runs for more than 120 seconds, the Red Light will flash. Please refer to the section on 'Vacuum Pump is running, but bag is not evacuating'.

  If air has re-entered a bag that was previously vacuum-sealed with your FoodSaver, start by examining the seal for any imperfections. Moisture or food material along the seal can prevent proper sealing. If there is a hole, use a new bag. If sharp food items may have punctured the bag, cover them with a soft cushioning material like a paper towel before resealing. Fermentation or the release of natural gases from the food may also cause this issue, indicating spoilage, in which case the food should be discarded. The bag could also be faulty or punctured, so try another bag.
