8.5 Tightening the V-belts
If the V-belt tension has eased, adjustment must be made to achieve the proper tension.
Whining or screeching are indications of insufficient V-belt tension.
Instructions for tightening slack V-belts:
1. Switch the machine off.
2. Disconnect the machine from the mains power.
3. Unscrew the knurled nut on the belt guard and open the belt guard.
4. Loosen the lock nut (2) on the belt tension screw.
5. Turn the belt tension screw (1) clockwise until the V-belts are tight.
6. Tighten the lock nut (2).
7. Close the belt guard and screw the knurled nut back securely in place to secure the belt
guard.
