Overview

The Franke HCWF-P is a High Capacity Wall Freezer designed for commercial use, specifically for short-term storage of frozen products near the point-of-use, such as a Fryer Station. This compact freezer is a 28-inch wide, single-door model, optimized for space-saving wall-mounted installation.

Function Description:

The HCWF-P serves as a dedicated freezer for maintaining frozen product temperatures. It features a refrigeration system that uses R-290 (Propane) refrigerant. The unit is designed for automatic evaporator coil defrosting, eliminating the need for manual defrosting under normal operating conditions. A digital temperature controller allows for monitoring and adjustment of the internal temperature. The freezer compartment is equipped with two wireform shelves for product storage and a raised, fixed, wireform bottom shelf to ensure proper air circulation, even when fully loaded.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HCWF-P
  • Part Number: 18014457
  • Refrigerant: R-290 (Propane)
  • Dimensions: 28" wide (single door model)
  • Temperature Range (Factory Preset): -5° F (-20.5° C)
  • Adjustable Temperature Range: 0° to -10° F (-18° to -23° C)
  • Mounting Requirements: Wall-mounted, capable of supporting at least 100 lbs (45 kg) per linear foot. If drywall, reinforcement with minimum 1/2" thick plywood anchored to at least two wall studs is required.
  • Electrical Receptacle: Must be within 10' of an appropriately rated electrical receptacle as per the unit's data label.
  • Installation Height: 80" from finished kitchen floor (or 77" if installed above a 2-Drawer Refrigerator, Combo Cooler/Freezer, or Convertible Cooler/Freezer).

Usage Features:

  • Wall-Mounted Design: Saves floor space by being mounted on a wall, typically near a Fryer Station.
  • Reversible Freezer Door: The door can be configured for right- or left-handed swing to accommodate different installation locations and user preferences.
  • Digital Temperature Controller: Located on the top-left panel at the front of the unit, it displays the current temperature and allows for easy adjustment of the setpoint.
  • Power ON/OFF Switch: A main power switch is conveniently located next to the temperature controller.
  • Adjustable Wire Shelves: Two wireform shelves can be positioned at six different height positions within the freezer compartment to accommodate various product and packaging sizes.
  • Raised Bottom Shelf: Ensures proper air circulation even when the freezer is fully loaded, preventing obstruction of the evaporator intake openings.
  • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Easy-to-clean surfaces throughout the unit.
  • Product Loading Guidelines: Emphasizes not overloading the unit and ensuring evaporator intake openings are never blocked by packaging or other items to maintain uniform temperatures and safe product storage.

Maintenance Features:

  • Automatic Evaporator Coil Defrosting: The unit is designed to automatically defrost its evaporator coil, reducing the need for manual intervention.
  • Manual Defrost Option: A manual defrost cycle can be initiated via the digital temperature controller (by pressing and holding the down arrow button for five seconds) to melt excess ice buildup.
  • Easy-to-Clean Interior/Exterior: Surfaces are designed for easy cleaning with store-approved cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Removable Shelves: Wire shelves can be easily removed for cleaning and repositioning.
  • Condenser Coil Access Panel: Allows access for cleaning the condenser coil, which is crucial for efficient operation. Regular cleaning of the condenser coil with a soft bristle brush is recommended as part of planned maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section to address common issues such as the unit not running, not reaching target temperatures, product being above target temperature, and frost buildup around the door. It offers possible causes and remedies, including checking the rocker switch, power button, circuit breaker, adjusting temperature settings, cleaning the condenser coil, initiating manual defrost, and verifying door gasket integrity.
  • OEM Parts Requirement: Franke emphasizes the use of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components for service, maintenance, or installation work to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Qualified Personnel Requirement: Service and installation work must be performed ONLY by factory-authorized service personnel or certified technicians with the requisite knowledge, skills, ability, and training.
  • Warranty: Franke Foodservice Solutions provides a warranty for new equipment, covering all components (including compressor) for 2 years (parts and labor) and the compressor for an additional 3 years (parts only). The warranty is conditional on following Franke instructions, using OEM parts, and service by authorized personnel.
