INSTALLATION
a) PUMP LOCATION:Thepumpshouldbeinstalledinaclean,
dryandventilatedlocationwhichprovidesadequatedrain-
age and room for servicing and protection from freezing
temperatures.Itshouldbebolteddownevenlyonagood
foundation,preferablyconcrete,topreventthedevelopmentof
unnecessarystress.Locatingthepumpascloseaspossible
tothesourceofwatersupplyreducesthefrictionlossesin
thesuctionpipeandprovidesformaximumcapacities.
b) SUCTION PIPE:
It is recommended that only new clean
pipeorhosebeusedandthesizebethesameasthatofthe
pumpsuctiontapping.Ifthepumpisinstalledanyappreciable
distanceawayfromthesourceofwatersupply,thesuction
pipeshouldbeincreasedbyonesize(thiswouldincreasethe
priming time). The suction pipe must always slope upwards
fromthewatersourcetothepumptoavoidairpocketsinthe
line.Incaseswherethepumphastobe reprime reprim
reprimedoftenanditisnotnecessarythatalotofwaterbe
delivered,itisadvisabletousea90°or45°elbowonthe
suctionline.Thisenablesthepumptoprimesoonerandalso
preventskinkingofthehose.Incaseswhereamaximum
volumeofwaterisrequiredoveraprolongedperiodoftime,
the suction line should be led almost horizontally to the
pump.Threadcompoundshouldbeusedonallpipejoints
andconnectionsshouldbethoroughlytightened.Astrainer
shouldbeconnectedtothebottomendofthesuctionpipe
anditshouldbewellsubmergedatalltimes.
c) WIRING:Itisrecommendedthataseparatecircuitbeused
fromthedistributionpaneltothepumpunit.Aproperlyfused
disconnectswitchistobeinstalledintheline,makingsure
thatthecorrectgaugeofcableisusedtocarrytheload.Very
longleadswillrequirealargercable.Anelectricianshould
beemployedtodothewiring.
Thispumpissuitableforinstallationswheretheverticaldistance
fromthepumptothewaterleveldoesnotexceed*25ft.(7.6m),
includingfrictionloss.Inoff-setinstallations,frictionlossesinthe
suctionpipemustbetakenintoconsideration.
