Overview

This document describes the Franklin Folding Soccer Goal, model number 30129X, a portable soccer goal designed for recreational use. The goal is intended to provide many hours of enjoyment when properly assembled and used for its intended purpose. Adult assembly is required, and adult supervision is recommended when children use the goal.

Function Description

The Franklin Folding Soccer Goal serves as a portable and foldable structure for playing soccer. Its primary function is to provide a target for players to score goals, enhancing practice sessions or casual games. The folding design allows for convenient storage and transport, making it suitable for various locations such as backyards, parks, or training fields. The goal is designed to be anchored to the ground to ensure stability and safety during use.

Usage Features

The goal features a straightforward assembly process, beginning with laying out all components on a smooth, flat surface. Users are advised to read the assembly instructions completely before starting to familiarize themselves with the components. The frame components include L-shaped bent tubes, straight double flanged tubes, folding corner pieces (left and right), straight double tubes, long straight double flanged tubes, ground stakes, pins, pre-assembled screws, pre-assembled bolts, a net, and self-stick straps.

The frame assembly involves inserting tube lengths completely until the press button of the tapered end pops through the adjoining perforated tube, ensuring a tight and secure connection. The assembly sequence begins with constructing the top front crossbar and back base bar by connecting various tube types. Subsequently, the remaining straight tubes are inserted into the bent ends of the back base. The folding joint parts are then connected to the ends of the side base tubes. Long straight double flanged tubes are inserted into the folding corner pieces on both ends of the structure, and finally, the top front crossbar is attached to the upward-pointing tubes.

A key feature is the folding mechanism. To fold the goal, users must remove the lock pins on both sides before folding the top backward. Once folded, the lock pins are reinserted to secure the goal in its folded state, facilitating compact storage and transport.

The net attachment process is detailed to ensure correct setup. The net is designed with red tabs to identify the top corners and blue tabs for the bottom front corners. The attachment sequence involves using self-stick closure straps. First, four straps are used to tie the top right and top left corners to the top bar, identified by the red tabs. Next, four straps secure the lower right and lower left corners to the lower front bar, identified by the blue tabs. The net is then stretched, and four more straps are used to tie it to the back bottom corners, two on each side. The remaining sections of the net are filled in with self-stick straps: eight for the top front section, six for each of the two side sections, and eight for the bottom back section. Users are advised to adjust the self-stick straps by moving them left or right as necessary to prevent large gaps in the net.

For stability and safety, the goal must always be anchored to the ground. Following goal assembly, six ground stakes are provided to secure the goal. Two stakes are recommended to be placed over each side/base tube, near the front, and two more over the back/base tubes. This anchoring is crucial to prevent the goal from falling over, which could cause serious injury or death.

Maintenance Features

While the document does not explicitly detail ongoing maintenance, the design implies several aspects that contribute to the longevity and proper functioning of the goal. The use of self-stick straps for net attachment allows for easy adjustment and replacement if needed, ensuring the net remains taut and functional. The robust construction with various tube types and secure connections suggests durability under normal use.

The folding mechanism, secured by lock pins, is designed for repeated use, indicating that the components are built to withstand the stresses of folding and unfolding. Regular inspection of the frame components, particularly the tube connections and folding joints, would be beneficial to ensure they remain secure and free from damage. Similarly, checking the condition of the self-stick straps and the net itself would help maintain the goal's integrity.

The emphasis on anchoring the goal highlights a critical safety and maintenance aspect. Ensuring that the ground stakes are always used and properly secured prevents damage to the goal structure from tipping over, thereby extending its lifespan.

For replacement parts, users are directed to contact Franklin Sports Inc. via phone or their website, indicating that individual components can be sourced if they become damaged or lost, rather than requiring the purchase of an entirely new goal. This supports long-term usability and reduces waste.

In summary, the Franklin Folding Soccer Goal is a user-friendly, portable, and safe option for soccer enthusiasts, provided that assembly instructions are followed carefully, and the goal is always anchored during use. Its design facilitates easy setup, breakdown, and storage, making it a practical choice for various recreational settings.
