If fuels are handled improperly,they posea
danger to persons and the environment. Do
not allow fuels to run into the sewage sys-
tem, the surface waters, the ground water or
into the ground.

Use truck fuelpumpnozzles to refuel. If
youuse apassenger vehicle fuelpumpnoz-
zle, the flapinthe filler neck could be dam-
aged.
If youhavetouse apassenger vehicle fuel
pump nozzle, insert it into the filler neck so
that only one of the pump nozzle lugs rest
on the edgeofthe filler neck.
If apassenger vehicle fuelpumpnozzle is
inserted too far, this may result in alug get-
ting caught on the flapinthe filler neck. To
release the fuelpumpnozzle in such acase,
twistortip it before attempting to remove
the fuelpumpnozzle.

Before filling the tank

Filter the fuelbefore transferring it to the
vehicle if youare refueling the vehicle from
barrelsorcontainers.
Thiswillprevent malfunctions in the fuel
system duetocontaminated fuel.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Important safety notes

Make surethat diesel fueldoesnot get
into the DEF tank. Otherwise,you could
damagethe emissions control system.
!
Only use DEF in accordance with
DIN 70070/ISO 22241.Donot use any
additives.
If DEF comes into contact with painted or
aluminum surfaceswhenfilling the tank,
rinse the affected areaimmediately with
plenty of water.
!
Do not mix any additives with DEF. Do not
dilute DEF with tap water. Thiscould result
in malfunctioning of the emissions control
system.
!
Alwaysclosethe DEF tank correctly.
Impurities could otherwise get into the
emissions control system and damageit.
!
Make surethat youdonot overfillthe DEF
tank. Otherwise,the DEF tank could be
damaged at very low temperatures.
Whenopening the DEF tank, small amounts of
ammonia vapors can escape.
Ammonia vapors haveapungent smelland are
particularly irritating to:

Skin
R
Mucous membranes
R
Eyes
The vapors may cause aburning sensation in
the eyes, nose and throataswellasirritation
of the throatand watering eyes.
Avoid inhaling ammonia vapors. Only fillthe
DEF tank in well-ventilated areas.
