It is illegal to dispose of
them with thehousehold
rubbish. They must be col-
lected separatelyand dis-
posed of in an environmen-
tally responsible recycling
system.
Dispose of batteries in an
environmentally responsible
manner.Take discharged
batteries to aqualifiedspe-
cialistworkshop or to acol-
lection pointfor used bat-
teries.
Observe thesafety notes and protective meas-
ures when handling thebattery.
Risk of explosion.Explosiveoxyhy-
drogen is produced when batteries
are beingcharged. Only charge the
batteries in awell-ventilated area.
Risk of explosion.Avoid creating
sparks. Avoid fire, open flames and
do not smoke when handling the
battery.
Batteryacid is caustic. Wear acid-
resistant protective gloves.
Splashes of acid on skin or clothing
should be neutralized immediately
usingsoapy water or acid neutral-
izerand then rinsed with water.
Wear eye protection.When mixing
water and acid, theliquid may
splash intoyour eyes. Rinseout
any acid that splashes intoeyes
immediately usingclean water and
seek medical attention at once.
Keep out of thereachofchildren.
Children are not able to evaluate
therisk involvedinhandling batter-
ies and acid.
Always observe thesafety instruc-
tions,protective measures and
procedures specified in these
OperatingInstructions when han-
dlingthe battery.

Americarecommendsthatyou onlyuse batter-
ies that have been tested and approved for
your vehicle by Mercedes-Benz.
