Only tilt the cab when there are no persons
within the tilting range. Do not remain in the
area underneaththe cab when the cab is til-
ted.

If you have to carryout any work in the
enginecompartment,

switchoff the ignition
R
never reach intothe danger zoneofmov-
ing component parts
R
remove any jewelery and or watches
R
clothing and hair, for example, should
kept clear of the movingparts
Tiltingarea of the cab
Before tilting the cab, carryout the following
steps:

For safetyreasons, keep the area in front of
the cab unobstructed.
X
Apply the parking brake.
X
Shiftintoneutral.
X
Switch off the engine.
X
To startthe engineafter tilting the cab, turn
the key in the ignition to the drive position.
X
Switch off the auxiliary heatingsystem
(Y page 63).
X
Remove all loose objectsfromthe cab, for
example:

drinkcans
R
bottles
R
tools
R
bags
X
Close the doors.
X
Use chocks to safeguardthe vehicle against
rollingaway.

Before tilting the cab, observe the notes
(Y page 172).

Open the maintenance flap (Y page 161).
X
Swingvalve lever : on the tilting pump to
position 1.
X
Fit the pump lever to hexagon nut ; on the
tilting pump using the wheel wrench (vehicle
toolkit).
X
Move the pump lever up and down on the
tilting pump until the cab tiltsintothe front
end position.
The cab is unlocked automatically.
X
If there is noticeable resistance when you
operatethe pump lever,checkthat tilting
position 1 has been set correctly on valve
lever : on the tilting pump.
