Notes on the engine radiator
Even seemingly small changes to the vehicle,
such as attaching aradiator trim for winter
driving or as protection against insects, are
not permitted. Do not cover the radiator. Do
not use thermal mats, insect protection covers
or anything similar.
Doing so can cause the diagnosticssystem to

Notes
Due to the multitude of requirementsinthe
U.S.regulations authorizingthe use of vehicles
for road traffic (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard, FMVSS), not all the plates and
labels shown apply for your vehicle.

SafetyStandard (FMVSS)
Example
Trucks purchased in the U.S.A.,with or with-
out fifthwheel coupling, are designated as cer-
tified by the FMVSSplate. The plate is on the
B-pillar on the driver's side.
The data on tires and wheels serves as certifi-
cation for suitable tire and wheel combinations
which can be mounted depending on permit-
ted axle load. Tires and wheels which are
mounted on the vehicle at the time of manu-
facture may have agreater load capacity than
that stated on the plate. Should the currently
mounted tires and wheels have alower load
capacity than the value on the plate, then the
mounted tires and wheels are applicable for
the load limits of the individual axles.
Trucks which have been manufactured without
bodies for goods transportation, and which are
planned for use in the USA,are furnished with
aplate which does not state all data in full.
This plate is attached by the final-stage manu-
facturer and is enclosed with the still incom-
plete vehicle documents. It certifies that the
vehicle complies with all directives in the
FMVSSwhich applied at the time of manufac-
ture.
