What to do if my Frog Swimming Pool Filter is over chlorinating?

If your chlorine reading exceeds 3.0 ppm, take out the POOL FROG® Bac Pac from the POOL FROG® Mineral Reservoir and test the water daily until the reading drops to 1.0 ppm. Then, put the POOL FROG® Bac Pac back in, lower the dial one setting, and test the water again after 24 hours. If the reading goes up again, lower the dial another setting.

First, check that there are chlorine tablets in the tower. If the reading has been lower than 0.5 ppm for more than a day, shock the pool. Ensure the pump runs at least 6 hours on high speed (40 gpm or higher). If it's still low, turn the dial up one setting and test the water again in 24 hours, repeating until the proper reading is achieved. Also, check for suction side leaks by looking for air bubbles in your pump basket or at the return jet.

What to do if my Frog Swimming Pool Filter water looks cloudy?

      Miguel BrownAug 12, 2025
Ensure your filtration system is working properly by checking for a free chlorine reading of 0.5 to 1.0 ppm. You may also need to shock the water to get rid of any organic matter buildup. Also, make sure the circulation time is adequate by increasing pump speed.

What to do if Frog Swimming Pool Filter water turns color?
    • C
      Cindy DurhamSep 12, 2025
If the water changes color, it could be due to algae formation. Shock the pool, increase circulation time if needed, and clean the filter. Alternatively, metals in the fill water might have been oxidized. In this case, have the pool water tested. If required, consult your pool dealer about using a metal control product.
