Turning the Camera On and Off
Shooting Mode
Press the  button to turn the camera on.
The lens will extend automatically.
Press  again to turn the camera off.
) Switching to Playback Mode
Press the  button to start playback. Press the shutter
button halfway to return to shooting mode.

• Be sure that the lens cap is removed before turning
the camera on.
• Forcibly preventing the lens from extending could
cause damage or product malfunction.
• Pictures can be affected by fingerprints and other
marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.
• The  button does not completely disconnect
the camera from its power supply.
Playback Mode
To turn the camera on and begin playback, press
the  button for about a second.
Press the  button again or press the 
button to turn the camera off .
) Switching to Shooting Mode
To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button
halfway. Press the  button to return to playback.
) Auto Power Off
The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the
 AUTO POWER OFF menu (see page 107). To turn the camera on, press the  button or the  button
for about a second.
