Information About Anytime USB Charge Utility
Your system features a USB 2.0 port that also acts as an Anytime USB Charge port. This feature allows
you to charge an external USB device with the port even when power to the system is turned off. (For the
location of the Anytime USB Charge port, refer to Figure 5).
The Anytime USB Charge function is Disabled by default. If you want to use this feature, you will need
to enable the function. To do so, perform the following steps:
1 Go to Start -> All Programs, then select Anytime USB Charge Utility. The Anytime USB Charge Utility window
will open offering three choices:
• Disable “Anytime USB Charge” function
If Anytime USB Charge is enabled, you will not be able to wake up the PC using a device connected
to this port (such as a USB mouse). If this port is used to wake up the PC, select this option.
• Only enable “Anytime USB Charge” function with AC Adapter
If you are going to use the Anytime USB Charge function, this is the recommended selection.
• Enable “Anytime USB Charge” function with AC Adapter or battery
NOTE: Charging a device off of the battery will very quickly deplete the battery power. If the
battery becomes low while the PC is running or in sleep mode, charging will be suspended and the
system will enter Hibernation mode. If you select this as your choice, you are strongly advised to
use an AC Adapter when charging an external device.
After you make your selection, click the [Change] button to save it or the [Cancel] button to leave the utility without
changing it.
• IF YOU PLAN TO CHARGE WITH THE AC ADAPTER WHEN THE SYSTEM IS SHUT DOWN, YOU MUST FIRST
CONNECT THE AC ADAPTER WHILE THE SYSTEM IS STILL RUNNING. IF YOU PLUG IT IN AFTER THE SYS-
TEM IS SHUT DOWN, IT WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZED.
• SOME USB DEVICES SUCH AS SOME MOBILE TELEPHONES REQUIRE A DRIVER IN ORDER TO CHARGE
FROM A USB PORT. IN THIS CASE, ANYTIME USB CHARGE WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE SYSTEM IS
SHUT DOWN SINCE THE DRIVERS AREN’T ACTIVE WHEN THE SYSTEM IS SWITCHED OFF.
• THE ANYTIME USB CHARGE UTILITY CAN ALSO BE CHANGED IN THE SYSTEM BIOS UNDER THE

DVANCED > MISCELLANEOUS CONFIGURATIONS SUBMENU. UNLESS YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH CHANG-
ING YOUR BIOS SETTINGS, WE RECOMMEND YOU USE THE UTILITY IN THE START MENU.
