1. Safety instructions and defi nitions
1.1 Warning symbols
DANGER denotes a dangerous situation which, if not avoided, could lead to death or serious injury.
WARNING denotes a dangerous situation which, if ignored, could lead to death or serious injury.
CAUTION denotes a dangerous situation which, if not avoided, could lead to injuries.
ATTENTION denotes a situation which could lead to material damage.
1.2 Safety instructions
The general accident prevention regulations, the accident prevention regulations for powered
windows and doors and the installation directives of VDE (German Association of Electrical
Engineers) are to be observed.
Exposed live parts!
Danger to life from electric shock!
Disconnect the control unit from the 230 V mains voltage before working on it.
Disconnect the batteries before working on the control unit!
Make sure that voltage from external components is not applied!
Verify that the system is safely isolated from the power supply!
Regulations for installation and assembly
RWA compact control units may only be fi tted, installed, repaired and serviced by trained specialist
personnel.
For Germany: When planning the use of a smoke and heat vent system, and also when installing it,
the following directives referring to safety must be observed:
Building code of the particular Federal State,
DIN 18 232 for industrial smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems,
DIN VDE 0100, DIN VDE 0108, DIN VDE 0833 and DIN 4102, part 12,
provisions of the relevant fire protection authorities,
provisions of the local power supply companies
Directive for model line systems (MLAR)
Important advice on cable laying
The electrical installation must be carried out by an electrical engineer in compliance with the
regional/national directives and regulations. The VDE standards and the valid MLAR directive
must be taken into consideration.
We recommend that cable types and the installation method should be coordinated with the
relevant fire protection authorities or the mandated expert.
