GARMIN charges into the Family Radio
Services (FRS) / General Mobile Radio
Services (GMRS) market with a new breed
of electronics: rino. By combining a power-
ful FRS/GMRS radio with a full-featured,
WAAS-enabled GPS receiver, outdoor
enthusiasts enjoy the best of both tech-
nologies. Rino (Radio Integrated with
Navigation for the Outdoors) offers
exclusive “peer-to-peer” position reporting
which allows one rino user to send
a position to another rino user within
a two-mile area using FRS (up to five miles
with GMRS). That user, in turn, can see
your position on a detailed map and navi-
gate right to your exact location. What’s
more, rino is the first, completely water-
proof FRS/GMRS. Confirmation that rino
doesn’t just talk tough, it is tough.
