PROPERTIES OF YOUR NEW ›DESIGN ESPRESSO PICCOLO‹

This chapter will provide an overview on the various functions and features of your

new EspressoAdvanced.

Function Used for …

Two pre-programmed

brewing functions

By pressing the 1 cup button or 2 cups button, you can extract a single espres-

so (approx. 20 ml) or double espresso (approx. 125 ml). As soon as the selected

amount is given off, the machine will stop operation automatically.

• For brewing a single espresso, it is best to use the 1 cup filter basket and fill in

only 1 level measuring spoon of coffee powder.

• For brewing a double espresso or 2 separate cups in a single step of operation,

the 2 cups filter basket is required, which can be filled with up to 2 level measu-

ring spoonful of coffee powder.

Low pressure pre-infusion Gives off hot water under reduced pressure for gently expanding the coffee grinds. This way,

you will get a more even extraction. After pre-infusion, the brewing system will pressurize the

group head for starting the real extraction.

Removable water tank The valve at the bottom of the water tank will open and close automatically. Thus, no

water will run out when removing the tank.

Water filter Supports the machine on optimal functioning as well as brewing an even high quality

coffee and obtaining perfect taste.

Portafilter with 2 spouts Thanks to the 2 spouts of the portafilter, 2 cups can be filled simultaneously. Place 1

cup under each spout. If you wish to fill only 1 cup, simply centre your cup under the

portafilter.

For espresso pads Use the 1 cup filter basket, if you do not wish to dose and tamp the coffee grinds on

your own. Ensure to buy suitable espresso pads for this filter basket.

Steam wand Via this feature, steam and hot water may be given off. Use the thermally insulated

handle to move the steam wand, when it is hot after usage.

• use the steam function to texture milk

• the hot water function may be used for diluting your espresso for a Long Black

(“normal” coffee), for preparing various hot drinks (e.g. tea, cocoa, hot choco-

late), and for pre-heating your cups and the portafilter.

Automatic shut-off Switches off the machine automatically after being idle for approx. 20 minutes.

For experienced users:

When using this feature, within a wide range you can set the extraction volume accor-

ding to your individual liking. Your settings will be kept in memory permanently.
