Why is my GE Air Conditioner not cooling as it should?

  There are several reasons why your GE air conditioner might not be cooling properly. Check if anything is blocking the front of the unit, such as curtains, blinds, or furniture. Ensure the temperature control is set correctly to a higher number. A dirty air filter can also restrict airflow, so clean it at least every 30 days. If the room was initially hot, allow time for it to cool down. Also, check for open furnace registers and cold air returns that may be allowing cold air to escape. Finally, cooling coils may have iced up.

  If your GE air conditioner isn't starting, first, ensure it's fully plugged into the outlet. Check your house's fuse or circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if needed. If there was a power failure, the unit will automatically restart with the last used settings after power is restored, but there's a 3-minute delay to protect the compressor. Also, check the current interrupter device and press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the reset button won't stay engaged, stop using the air conditioner and contact a qualified technician.

  Water collecting in the base pan of your GE air conditioner is normal. It's due to moisture removed from the air draining into the base pan. This is normal for a short period in areas with little humidity and for a longer period in very humid areas.
