What to do if my GE AHC18 Air Conditioner does not start?

  If your GE Air Conditioner doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the unit is properly plugged into the outlet. Next, check your house's fuse or circuit breaker and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if necessary. If there was a power failure, the unit will automatically restart with the last used settings after power is restored, but there's a 3-minute delay to protect the compressor. Finally, if the current interrupter device has tripped, press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the RESET button won't stay engaged, stop using the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

Why is my GE AHC18 Air Conditioner not cooling as it should?

  If your GE Air Conditioner isn't cooling properly, several factors could be responsible. Make sure that curtains, blinds, or furniture are not blocking the front of the unit, restricting airflow. Also, check that the temperature control is set correctly; try turning it to a higher number. A dirty air filter can also reduce cooling efficiency, so clean the filter at least every 30 days. If the room was initially very hot, allow the air conditioner time to cool it down. Ensure cold air isn't escaping through open furnace registers or cold air returns. Finally, check if the cooling coils have iced up.
