What to do if my GE AHC18 Air Conditioner does not start?
    • B
      brittanycastroAug 6, 2025
If your GE Air Conditioner doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the unit is properly plugged into the outlet. Next, check your house's fuse or circuit breaker and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if necessary. If there was a power failure, the unit will automatically restart with the last used settings after power is restored, but there's a 3-minute delay to protect the compressor. Finally, if the current interrupter device has tripped, press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the RESET button won't stay engaged, stop using the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

Why is my GE AHC18 Air Conditioner not cooling as it should?
    • A
      Andrew Davis MDAug 11, 2025
If your GE Air Conditioner isn't cooling properly, several factors could be responsible. Make sure that curtains, blinds, or furniture are not blocking the front of the unit, restricting airflow. Also, check that the temperature control is set correctly; try turning it to a higher number. A dirty air filter can also reduce cooling efficiency, so clean the filter at least every 30 days. If the room was initially very hot, allow the air conditioner time to cool it down. Ensure cold air isn't escaping through open furnace registers or cold air returns. Finally, check if the cooling coils have iced up.

Why does water collect in the base pan of my GE AHC18 Air Conditioner?
    • A
      Andrew ClarkAug 18, 2025
Water collecting in the base pan of your GE Air Conditioner is typically normal. It's due to moisture removed from the air draining into the pan. This is expected for a short period in areas with low humidity and for longer periods in very humid areas.

What to do if my GE Air Conditioner is freezing up?
    • E
      eugenethomasAug 25, 2025
If your GE Air Conditioner is freezing up, it means ice is blocking the airflow, preventing it from cooling the room. To resolve this, set the mode control to High Fan or High Cool, and adjust the temperature setting as high as it can be set.
