Why is the Spin light blinking on my GE GTW480?
    • M
      Melinda JohnsonSep 12, 2025
If you see a blinking Spin light or a Spin light on at the end of the cycle on your GE Washer, it indicates that an out-of-balance condition has been detected. Allow the cycle to continue and finish. If the load is still wet at the end, even out the load and run a Drain & Spin cycle.

What to do if my GE GTW480 Washer won’t drain?
    • N
      Nancy RoseAug 25, 2025
If your GE Washer isn’t draining, make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or that the washer isn't sitting on it. The top of the drain outlet should be less than 8 ft (2.44 m) above the floor. Straighten the drain hose and ensure proper connection.

Why are my clothes too wet after washing in my GE GTW480?
    • S
      shesterAug 26, 2025
If clothes are coming out of your GE Washer too wet, ensure that the cycle selected matches the load you are washing. Some fabrics will feel wetter when rinsed with cold water. If the wash load is out of balance, redistribute the load in the washer and run it through a Drain & Spin cycle.

What to do if water is siphoning out of my GE GTW480?
    • E
      Elizabeth HerringSep 23, 2025
If water is siphoning out of your GE washer, the drain hose must exceed 30” height at some point between the washer back and the drain pipe. Use an anti-siphon clip and refer to the Installation Instructions for proper setup.

Why is water pumped out before cycle is complete in my GE Washer?
    • R
      rsmithSep 13, 2025
If your GE Washer is pumping water out before the cycle is complete, it's likely because a previous cycle was cancelled, and water was left in the unit for 24 hours with the lid closed or 15 minutes with the lid open. Close the lid, select a new cycle, and start the machine.

Why is the water temperature incorrect in my GE GTW480?
    • P
      Patricia GomezSep 18, 2025
If the water temperature seems incorrect in your GE washer, check the following: * Ensure both hot and cold water faucets are fully turned on and that the hoses are connected to the correct faucets, marked “H” and “C”. * Turn off the water source and remove the water connection hoses from the upper back of the washer and the water faucets. Clean both the hose screens (if so equipped) and the screens in the machine using a brush or a toothpick. Reconnect the hoses and turn the water back on. Check to ensure there are no leaks at the connections. * Make sure your house water heater is set to deliver water at 120°F–140°F (48°C–60°C).

Why are there snags, holes, tears, rips or excessive wear on my clothes after washing in my GE GTW480 Washer?
    • M
      Miguel CainSep 6, 2025
Snags, holes, tears, rips, or excessive wear on clothes after washing in your GE washer can occur due to: * Pins, snaps, hooks, sharp buttons, belt buckles, zippers, and sharp objects left in pockets. Fasten snaps, hooks, buttons, and zippers. Remove loose items like pins, objects in pockets, and sharp buttons. Turn knits (which snag easily) inside out. * Undiluted chlorine bleach. Check the bleach package instructions for the proper amount and never add undiluted bleach to the wash or allow clothes to come into contact with undiluted bleach. * Chemicals like hair bleach or dye, or permanent wave solution. Rinse items that may have chemicals on them before washing and use the Speed Wash cycle with the Extra Rinse option (on some models).

    Michael MclaughlinSep 6, 2025
Why are there colored spots on my clothes after washing in my GE Washer?
    • M
      Mrs. Kristina PierceSep 6, 2025
Colored spots on clothes after washing in your GE washer may be due to: * Incorrect use of fabric softener. Check the fabric softener package for instructions and follow directions for using the dispenser. Make sure you have selected the Deep Rinse/Extra Rinse option (on some models). Pretreat the stain and rewash using the Speed Wash cycle before drying (on some models). * Dye transfer. Sort whites or lightly colored items separately from dark colors.

How to prevent wrinkling when using my GE GTW480?
    • B
      bmoralesSep 23, 2025
To prevent wrinkling when using your GE washer: * Match the cycle selection to the type of fabric you are washing, especially for easy-care loads. * Avoid mixing heavy items (like jeans) with light items (like blouses). Consider using a fabric softener. * Loosely load clothes in the washer basket to prevent overloading. * Wash in warm or cold water to avoid repeated washing in water that is too hot.

Why is my GE GTW480 rocking or moving?
    • S
      Shannon RichardsonAug 30, 2025
If your GE Washer is rocking or moving, it's likely due to uneven leveling legs. To fix this, adjust the leveling legs by rotating each leg in the proper direction until the washer is stable.
