MAINTENANCE

Inspect the ﬂashlight monthly and carefully remove any damaged batteries and clean

any corrosion. If the ﬂashlight is used less than once a month, remove the batteries

between uses. Lubricate all threads and rubber O-rings with

petroleum jelly twice yearly.

Limited One-Year Warranty

GearLight warrants this product for one year from the date of purchase

against any defects in material or workmanship. This warranty does not cover

normal wear and tear, nor damage resulting from misuse or neglect. We will,

at our discretion, repair, replace, or refund the purchase price of this product

should we determine it to be defective.

Limitation Of Liability

Liability limited to the purchase price of this product. GearLight shall not be

liable for any incidental or consequential damages or any implied warranty on

this product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of

incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion

may not apply to you.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the ﬂashlight ﬂickers, works intermittently, appears dim or faded, or does not turn

on, check and verify that:

• Each battery is fully inserted matching the polarity (+/-) on the battery holder.

• Each battery end is touching a metal contact in the battery holder.

• The battery holder contacts are clean and the springs are not bent sideways.

• The ﬂashlight's inner spring is ﬁrmly attached and not bent.

• The battery holder is inserted into the ﬂashlight with the positive (+) end ﬁrst.

• The tail cap is twisted on tightly.

Firmly press the power button on and o several times:

• If the ﬂashlight still does not turn on, replace the batteries.

• If the problem persists, contact GearLight for a replacement.

Function Description

The primary function of the XR98 UV Flashlight is to emit UV light for detection, authentication, and illumination purposes. It is capable of detecting pet urine stains, authenticating currency, IDs, and driver's licenses, and identifying scorpions. Beyond these core functions, it can be used for inspecting the cleanliness of hotel rooms, charging glow-in-the-dark items, creating fluorescent stage lighting effects, searching for fossils and minerals, curing artwork, inspecting antiques, identifying mold, detecting ringworms and caterpillars, and even inspecting overdue bananas.

Important Technical Specifications

The flashlight features 100 UV LEDs, indicating a strong UV output suitable for its intended applications. It operates on 6 AA batteries, which are housed in a removable battery holder. Usage Features

Battery Installation:

Hold the item a few inches away from the flashlight.
Note that it does not work on the newest $100 USD bills.

Other Applications:

Scorpion Detection: Scorpions will glow blue-green under UV light.
Travel: Inspect hotel rooms for cleanliness, detecting dried urine (yellow/green glow), other bodily fluids (fluorescent glow), or bed bugs (dark or black glow). Note that blood does not glow under UV light without added chemicals.
UV Charger: Charge fishing lures, golf discs, glow-in-the-dark paint, or glow-in-the-dark toys.
Miscellaneous: Create fluorescent stage lighting effects for special glow body paints, search and identify fossils, precious minerals, and gemstones (e.g., rubies, diamonds), cure artwork, inspect antiques (e.g., Vaseline glass), use for black light photography, identify mold, detect ringworms and caterpillars (including the tomato hornworm), and inspect overdue bananas.

Safety Warnings:

Avoid direct eye exposure to the UV light beam.
Do not shine the beam directly into anyone's eyes.
This product is not designed, intended, or recommended for children or hazardous environments.
Remove batteries if the flashlight is not working properly to prevent personal injury or property damage.
Always follow battery manufacturer's instructions for proper usage, handling, storage, and disposal.
Use only batteries from a reputable manufacturer.
Do not mix different brands or types of batteries.
Replace all batteries at the same time.
