Overview

The Gimbal Pro is a versatile and user-friendly device designed to enhance your mobile videography and photography experience. It serves as a manual gimbal, providing stability and smooth motion for your smartphone, while also integrating with the Xbot Go for advanced auto-tracking and recording capabilities. This quick start guide will walk you through its functions, usage features, and maintenance tips to help you get the most out of your device.

Function Description

The core function of the Gimbal Pro is to stabilize your smartphone, eliminating shaky footage and allowing for professional-looking shots. It achieves this through its multi-axis stabilization system, which can be configured into various modes to suit different shooting scenarios.

Stabilization Modes:

  • All Follow (AF): In this mode, the Roll axis is locked, while the Pan (left/right) and Tilt (up/down) axes follow the movement of the handle. This is ideal for capturing dynamic shots where you want the camera to smoothly track your movements in horizontal and vertical planes.
  • Half Follow (HF): Here, both the Roll and Tilt axes are locked, with only the Pan axis (left/right) following the handle's movement. This mode is perfect for smooth horizontal panning shots, keeping the vertical orientation of your camera fixed.
  • All Lock (LF) Mode: This mode locks all three axes—Roll, Pan, and Tilt—in a fixed position. The phone camera's direction remains constant, making it suitable for static shots or when you need a perfectly still frame regardless of handle movement.
  • First Person View (FPV) Mode: In FPV mode, the gimbal follows the handle's movement across all three axes (Roll, Pan, and Tilt), keeping the camera pointed in the direction of the handle. This creates an immersive, "first-person" perspective, ideal for capturing dynamic action sequences where the camera mimics your head movements.

Camera Control:

The Gimbal Pro offers integrated controls for your smartphone's camera, accessible via Bluetooth connection.

  • Shutter Button: A single press takes a photo or starts/stops video recording. A double press pauses or resumes video recording (when using the Gimbal Pro app), and a triple press captures photos during video recording.
  • Zoom Function: Dedicated buttons allow you to zoom in or out of the camera view, providing more control over your shots (available when connected to the Gimbal Pro app).
  • Joystick: A multi-directional joystick enables precise control over the gimbal's movement, allowing you to adjust the camera's left/right/up/down directions smoothly.

Usage Features

The Gimbal Pro is designed for intuitive and flexible use, offering several features to enhance your shooting experience.

Securing Your Phone: To begin, securely attach your phone to the gimbal by placing it in the phone clamp panel. Ensure the phone is centered and tightly secured to prevent any movement during operation.

Powering On/Off: To power on the gimbal, press the power button for one second. To power off, press and hold the power button for one second. The gimbal will make a shutdown sound, and all lights will turn off. When powering off, the gimbal will automatically return to its folded position for convenient storage.

Bluetooth Connectivity: Connecting your phone to the gimbal via Bluetooth is essential for utilizing camera controls and advanced features.

  1. Power on the gimbal and activate Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Access your phone's Bluetooth settings and select "GP7-xx" (where "xx" refers to the last two digits of the device number, which is unique for each device) to connect.
  3. The Bluetooth indicator on the gimbal will show its status: slow flashing means not connected, fast flashing means connecting, and a solid light means connected.

Mode Switching: The mode button allows you to easily switch between the four stabilization modes with a single press. A double press of the mode button will re-center the smartphone, bringing it back to its default position.

Charging: The gimbal features a USB Type-C charging port. It supports fast charging, and it is recommended to use a 5V/2A adapter for optimal charging speed and efficiency. The gimbal also supports charging while in use, ensuring you don't miss a moment.

Power Level Indicator: The gimbal is equipped with a power level indicator, typically a series of lights, to show the remaining battery life:

  • Four lights on: 100% power level.
  • Three lights on and the fourth light flashing: 76%-99% power level.
  • The first and second lights on, and the third light flashing: 50%-75% power level.
  • Two lights on: 26%-49% power level.
  • One light on: 0%-25% power level.

Shooting Modes (Horizontal/Vertical): A single press of the power button (after the gimbal is on) switches the device's shooting mode between horizontal and vertical orientations, allowing for versatile framing.

Other Features:

  • Combination Button (Bluetooth Reset): Pressing both the power button and shutter button simultaneously will reset the Bluetooth connection, disconnect from any previously connected phone, and enable quick connection with a new phone.
  • Working Mode (Landscape/Portrait): The gimbal can be used in both landscape and portrait orientations, adapting to your content needs.
  • Underslung Mode: Hold the gimbal upside down to capture images from a low position, offering unique perspectives.
  • Side Grip Mode: Rotate the gimbal 90 degrees to the right or left to switch from an upright to a side grip mode. This mode also works in both landscape and portrait orientations, providing ergonomic flexibility.

Gimbal Pro App Integration: While the gimbal supports your phone's native camera app for basic stable shooting, downloading the accompanying "Gimbal Pro" app unlocks advanced features such as zoom, panoramic shots, tracking, and time-lapse. The app requires iOS 12.0 or later for Apple devices and Android 6.0 or later for Android devices. To connect the app:

  1. Enter your phone's "Settings."
  2. Click on "Bluetooth" and find "GP7_XX."
  3. Click on "GP7_XX" to bring up the pairing screen.
  4. Click on "Pair" to connect the device with the Gimbal Pro app.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Gimbal Pro.

General Cautions:

  • Obstruction: Ensure no external forces obstruct the gimbal's rotation, as this can lead to failure and a "dinging" sound.
  • Stability: Keep the handle stable when the gimbal is powered on, and avoid shaking it to prevent malfunction. Using a tripod is recommended for stable operation.
  • Water Resistance: The gimbal is NOT waterproof. Avoid exposing it to any liquids, including seawater or corrosive substances.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble the gimbal yourself. Repairs should only be performed by professionals.
  • Overheating: Prolonged use may cause the motor to overheat, potentially damaging the device. Use with caution.
  • Impact: Avoid dropping the gimbal, as it is not shockproof and can sustain damage or abnormal function from impacts.

Storage and Battery Care:

  • Child and Pet Safety: Keep the product and its battery away from children and pets.
  • Heat Sources: Do not place the product near heat sources such as stoves or heaters, and avoid leaving it inside hot cars. The product should not be stored in environments exceeding 60°C.
  • Dry Environment: Store the product and battery in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
  • Battery Charging: Do not overcharge or over-discharge the battery, as this can damage the battery cell and reduce its lifespan.
  • Operating Temperature: Use this product only in environments with a temperature between 0°C and 40°C for optimal performance and safety.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure your Gimbal Pro remains a reliable tool for capturing stunning footage and photos for years to come.
