Overview

The MX88 is an 8x8 HDMI matrix switcher designed to route any of eight HDMI input channels to any of eight HDMI output channels. This device is versatile, supporting both HDCP and non-HDCP sources, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Users can control the matrix through multiple interfaces, including infrared (IR) remote control, RS232, and LAN, offering flexible management options.

Function Description:

The primary function of the MX88 is to provide flexible routing of HDMI audio/video signals. It allows up to eight HDMI audio/video devices to be independently switched to eight HDMI monitors, HDTVs, or projectors. A key feature is its ability to display the same or different sources simultaneously on the eight output channels, regardless of whether the source is HDCP compliant or not. The matrix incorporates an internal EDID library with default configurations and also supports native EDID data for any output/display, ensuring optimal compatibility and display performance.

The MX88 is designed to address various needs in digital entertainment centers, HDTV retail and show sites, HDTV, STB, DVD, and projector factories. It helps manage noise, space, and security concerns, and is useful for data center control, information distribution, conference room presentations, and educational or corporate training environments.

    • Panel Buttons: Direct control via buttons on the front panel.
    • Local IR: Control using the supplied IR remote control. An extra infrared extension receiver is included for extended range.
    • RS232: Serial communication for integration with control systems. The manual provides detailed command formats for custom software development, including baud rate (9600 bps), data bits (8 bits), parity (None), stop bits (1 bit), and flow control (None). Commands are available for selecting inputs for specific outputs, selecting inputs for all outputs, obtaining input status, copying EDID, and resetting factory settings.
    • Ethernet (LAN): Network-based control for remote management. This involves using the "Netfinder.exe" software to discover the device's IP address and then accessing a web browser interface. The default password for the web interface is "0000000000". Telnet control is also supported, allowing command-line interaction with the matrix using its IP address.

  • IR Remote Control: The device comes with an IR remote control with two group keypads for sixteen ports. Users can select an output port and then an input port to establish the connection.
  • Power Management: The manual advises powering on the desired input source before showing it on the display and keeping unused input power off to avoid interference.
  • Initialization: Upon powering on, the LED panel flashes circularly during initialization, indicating readiness when it stops.

    • Safety Check: After repairs or service, a safety check should be performed to confirm proper working condition.
  • Mail-In Service: For mail-in service, the unit should be carefully packed, prepaid, adequately insured, and preferably sent in its original carton. A letter detailing the complaint and contact information should be included. Proof of purchase (sales receipt with date, amount, and place of purchase) is required for warranty repairs.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty period is one year for parts and 90 days for labor, starting from the original purchase date. The warrantor will, at its option, repair or replace the product with new or refurbished parts.
