VM26-J Maintenance
Pre-Start Inspection Checklist
The operator must conduct a Pre-Start Inspection of the machine before each work shift.
DO NOT use a damaged or malfunctioning machine.
Initial Description
 Be sure that the operator's manual is complete, legible and in the storage container located in the platform.
 Be sure that all decals are legible and in place.
 Check for hydraulic oil leaks.
 Check for battery fluid leaks.
Check the following components or areas for damage, improperly installed or missing parts and unauthorized modifications:
 Electrical components, wiring and electrical cables
 Battery connections and electrolyte levels
 Hydraulic hoses, fittings, cylinders and manifolds
 Drive motors
 Slide blocks/wear pads
 Tires and wheels
 Ground strap
 Limit switches, alarm and beacon
 Nuts, bolts and other fasteners
 Platform entry gate
 Maintenance Lock
 Platform control handle
Check entire machine for:
 External marks, warping, damage or loose rivets on the lift system.
 Cracks in welds or structural components
 Dents or damage to machine
 Be sure that all structural and other critical components are present and all associated fasteners and pins are in place
and properly tightened
 Be sure that guard rails are properly installed and secured, and that all pins and bolts are properly fastened.
 Be sure that the chassis is closed and latched and the batteries are properly connected.
NEVER perform work or inspection on the machine with the platform elevated without first supporting
the lift assembly.
