The Goodman GM9S92 is a single-stage, multi-speed ECM gas furnace designed for residential heating applications, offering up to 92% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency). This furnace is engineered for multi-position installation, specifically upflow, horizontal left, or horizontal right configurations, providing flexibility for various home layouts. It is certified for both direct vent (2-pipe) and non-direct vent (1-pipe) installations, further enhancing its adaptability.
The GM9S92 furnace operates by drawing in combustion air and mixing it with natural gas (or LP gas with conversion). This mixture is ignited by a durable Silicon Nitride igniter, and the resulting hot gases pass through a heavy-duty aluminized-steel tubular heat exchanger and a stainless-steel secondary heat exchanger. Heat is transferred from the hot gases to the circulating air, which is then distributed throughout the home by a multi-speed ECM blower motor. The cooled combustion gases are safely vented outdoors by a quiet single-speed induced draft blower. The single-stage gas valve provides consistent heat output, while the self-diagnostic control board monitors operation and helps in troubleshooting.
