SAFETY OPERATION MAINTENANCESETUP
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed
only by a qualified technician.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION: Turn the Power
Switch of the tool off and remove the batteries from the tool before performing any
inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
Do not use damaged equipment. Have the problem corrected before further use.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general
condition of the tool. Check for loose hardware,
misalignment or binding of parts, cracked or broken
parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other
condition that may affect its safe operation.
2. Handle the Metal Detector gently and carefully.
Dropping it can damage circuit boards and the case,
and can cause the Metal Detector to malfunction.
3. AFTER USE, wipe external surfaces of the
tool with a damp clean cloth, then dry. Do
not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents,
or strong detergents to clean the detector.
Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Causes Likely Solutions
Unit displays or
sounds without
a target.
1. Metal Detector can receive
interference from power lines and
other electromagnetic sources.
2. Environmental humidity
is very high.
3. Sensitivity Level is set too high.
4. Sweeping the Search Coil to
fast or at the wrong angle.
5. Other Metal Detectors
in close proximity.
1. Change search location or removed source of
interference.
2. Wait for humidity level to lower.
3. Adjust Sensitivity Level lower.
4. Use correct operating techniques as described
in GENERAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
Unit does not
detect anything.
1. Sensitivity Level is set too low.
2. Target ID range is
eliminated (not selected).
3. Search Coil not parallel
with ground.
1. Adjust Sensitivity Level higher.
2. Select correct Target ID range.
3. Use correct operating techniques as described
in GENERAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
Unit displays
multiple Target ID
ranges, emits
multiple tones, etc.
1. Multiple metal types in
the search area.
2. Target ID range cannot
be determined (heavily
oxidized metal, etc.)
1. Adjust Sensitivity Level lower to increase
discrimination between target objects.
2. Sweep the Search Coil at differing angles.
Unit does not
function.
1. Dead Battery.
2. Cable connection is poor.
1. Replace Batteries.
2. Reconnect cable as described in
SETUP -BEFORE USE.
Follow all safety precautions whenever diagnosing or servicing the tool.
Disconnect power supply before service.
