Overview

This document provides instructions for the use, installation, and connection of a glass-ceramic built-in cooking hob, intended for household use. The manual emphasizes safety precautions, proper operation, and maintenance to ensure the longevity and safe use of the appliance.

Function Description

The glass-ceramic hob is designed for cooking food in households. It features multiple cooking zones, each controlled by a dedicated knob on the control unit. The hob offers various power levels, allowing for precise temperature control during cooking. Some models include a double-ring cooking zone, which can be activated to expand the heating area for larger cookware. The appliance is designed to be built into a kitchen worktop, integrating seamlessly with kitchen furniture.

Usage Features

Operating the Cooking Zones: To operate the cooking zones, users turn the corresponding knobs on the control panel. The symbol next to each knob indicates which cooking zone it controls. Power levels can be set continuously (1-9) or stepwise (1-6), depending on the model. Continuous knobs increase power clockwise and decrease it anticlockwise. Step knobs can be rotated in both directions. The manual suggests turning off the cooking zone three to five minutes before the end of cooking to utilize residual heat and save energy. A table provides examples of power levels for different cooking tasks, such as maintaining temperature, reheating, consecutive cooking/frying, deep frying, and quick heating.

Control Lights: Whenever at least one cooking zone is switched on, a yellow LED light illuminates. In some models, this function is indicated by a backlit dial above the activated knob.

Warning Lights (Hot Surface Indicator): Glass-ceramic cooking hobs are equipped with warning control lights located in the front part of the panel. If a warning light is lit, it indicates that the corresponding cooking zone is hot, posing a risk of burning. This light remains on until the cooking zone cools down to below 50°C, ensuring user safety.

Cookware Recommendations: For optimal performance and energy efficiency, it is recommended to use high-quality cookware with a flat and stable bottom. The pan bottom diameter should match the cooking zone diameter to prevent heat waste and potential damage to the cooking zone. Using a lid whenever possible is encouraged to save energy. When cooking small quantities of food, appropriately sized pans should be used to avoid energy waste. Pressure cookers are recommended for dishes that require long cooking times. For vegetables and potatoes, cooking with a small quantity of water and a tightly closed lid is advised, reducing the power level once boiling point is reached.

Important Usage Warnings: Users are cautioned against turning on empty cooking zones or using the hob for room heating. It is crucial to ensure that cooking zones and pan bottoms are clean and dry to facilitate efficient heat transmission and prevent damage. Fat or oil left on cooking zones can ignite, necessitating careful supervision, especially when deep frying. Damp pans or steam-covered lids should not be placed on cooking zones as moisture can be detrimental. Hot pans should not be left to cool on cooking zones to avoid corrosion caused by condensation. The hob should not be used as a worktop, as sharp objects can cause scratches. Heating food in aluminum foil or plastic containers is prohibited due to the risk of melting, fire, or damage. If the glass-ceramic surface is cracked, the appliance must be immediately switched off to prevent electric shock.

Maintenance Features

Regular Cleaning: After each use, the glass-ceramic hob should be allowed to cool down before cleaning. This prevents food residues from burning onto the hot surface during subsequent use. For regular cleaning, special conditioning agents that form a protective layer are recommended. Before each use, the hob surface and pan bottoms should be wiped clean of dust or particles to prevent scratching.

Stain Removal: Light stains can be removed with a damp soft cloth, followed by drying the surface. Water stains can be cleaned with a mild vinegar solution, but this solution should not be used on the frame of the hob as it may dull the finish. Heavier or stubborn stains, including burnt residues, can be removed using special agents and utensils designed for glass-ceramic hobs, such as a scraper. When using a scraper, it should be held at a 45° to 60° angle and gently pressed against the glass, sliding it over the dirt. Care must be taken not to press the scraper perpendicularly or scratch the surface with its tip or blade. Any residues of cleaning agents must be thoroughly removed to prevent damage to the hob when cooking zones heat up.

Addressing Discoloration: Changes in the color of the glass-ceramic surface, often caused by burnt food residues or cookware made of aluminum or copper, do not affect the hob's operation or stability. While these stains can be difficult to remove, they are primarily aesthetic and do not constitute a warranty claim.

Prohibited Cleaning Methods: Aggressive detergents, abrasive cleaners, abrasive sponges, and aggressive sprays are not recommended as they can scratch or damage the hob surface and wear down signage. Steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners must not be used to clean the cooking hob due to the risk of electric shock.

Important Maintenance Warnings: The appliance should only be connected to the power mains by an authorized service technician or expert. Tampering with the appliance or non-professional repairs can lead to severe injury or product damage. All repairs must be carried out by an authorized service technician. Before any manipulation with the appliance (other than regular use), it must be disconnected from the power mains.
