Using generic recovery disk images
Using generic recovery disk images
K2 Media Servers recently shipping from Grass Valley have multiple versions of the
generic recovery disk image on the E: partition. The most recent (highest number)
version is the image that is on the K2 Media Server when you receive it from Grass
Valley, so in most cases that is the image you should use if you need to restore the
system to its factory default state. Older versions are for use by Grass Valley Support
only. Unless directed otherwise by Grass Valley Support, you should delete the older
versions of the generic recovery disk image. This makes disk space available for the
first birthday disk image and other images you make as part of normal backup
processes.
If you need to use the generic recovery disk image, follow the procedure in the K2
Storage System Instruction Manual, with considerations for the type of K2 Media
Server and the disk image version, as explained in the following sections.
