Essential accessories (not included in the kit)
Radio control system: you will need at least an eight-channel RC system. We particularly recommend mc-20,
mc-22, mc-24 and mx-22 computer systems.
Foam rubber for packing and protecting various internal components.
Adhesives, thread-lock fluid, e.g. UHU thread-lock fluid, Order No. 952.
Thread-lock fluid is used on screwed joints to prevent them working loose as a result of vibration, and should be
applied to all screw-fitting linkage components. Don’t use it where screws are fitted into plastic parts, e.g.
control surface horns. You will also need epoxy laminating resin, 5-minute epoxy and cyano (thick and thin)
together with cyano activator spray; use whichever adhesive you prefer unless the building instructions
expressly prescribe the use of a particular type.
Essential tools
You will need all the tools typically present in a well-equipped modelling workshop. You will certainly require a
mains-powered or battery-powered drill with a set of twist drills. Rotary cutters, sanding drums etc. for
roughening joint areas and cleaning up cut edges make many tasks easier. A large unobstructed working surface
(table) is a basic essential for assembling the model.
During construction
Adhesives and paints contain solvents which may be hazardous to health under certain circumstances. Read and
observe the notes and warnings supplied by the manufacturer of these materials. Take waste glue and paint back
to the model shop for disposal, or to your local toxic waste collection centre.
Take care to keep tools, adhesives and paints out of the reach of children.
A large, unobstructed working surface is a great advantage for all types of model-making.
Gluing different materials
All glued joints must be carried out with great care, and this applies in particular when you are gluing the control
surface horns in place (elevons and rudders), and fixing the plates which support the RC system and turbine
components, i.e. all the parts which are not factory-installed. When using two-pack adhesives, keep strictly to the
stated mixing ratio.
It is often advantageous to thicken two-pack adhesives with chopped cotton strands or similar, to prevent the
tendency of the resin to run out of joints.
Heat is generated when cyano is used in conjunction with activator spray, and this can cause discoloration of the
model’s skin (painted surface).
The cable tie retaining plates included in the kit are self-adhesive (double-sided tape) as standard.
However, experience shows that their adhesive power declines with time, so please strengthen each joint
with a drop of cyano.
