1. Carefully disconnect spark plug wires and
keep them away from spark plugs. See
Figure 9.
• Keep the disconnected spark plug
wires securely away from metal parts
where arcing could occur.
• Disconnect battery at negative terminal
rst.
• Turn all engine switches to “OFF”
position.
• Remove ignition key, if provided.
2. Remove spark plugs.
3. Squirt 1oz. (30 ml) of clean engine oil into
spark plug holes.
4. Cover spark plug holes with rags to prevent fuel and oil from spraying from spark
plug holes when starter is engaged.
5. Push starter button or turn ignition switch key to “START” position. Immediately
release starter button or turn ignition switch key to “OFF” position (this will distribute
oil throughout the cylinders to prevent corrosion during storage).
6. Remove rags covering spark plug holes.
7. Install spark plugs.
8. Connect spark plug wires to spark plugs before attempting to start engine at the
beginning of the next season.

Change oil. See “Changing Oil” instructions.
3. Battery
See equipment manufacturer’s instructions for proper battery storage.
C. Removal From Storage
Check your engine as described in the “Before Operation” chapter of this manual.
If refueling is required, only use fresh gasoline.
