What to do if my GreenWorks Chainsaw motor runs but the chain is not rotating?
    • K
      Keith StokesAug 3, 2025
If your GreenWorks Chainsaw motor runs, but the chain doesn't rotate, the saw chain tension might be too tight. You can also remove the battery, take off the bar cover, and remove the bar and saw chain. Clean all debris from the chainsaw. After all debris is cleared, insert battery and run the chainsaw. If the sprocket is spinning your motor is okay. If the sprocket is not spinning, call customer service.

      Alyssa MejiaAug 9, 2025
If the GreenWorks Chainsaw bar and saw chain are running hot and smoking, it could be due to several reasons. First, check the saw chain tension; if it's overtightened, tension the saw chain. Ensure there's oil in the oil tank; if not, refill it. Also, the discharge port, oil tank, or bar and chain oil tank cap might be blocked by debris, so clean them out. Lastly, the sprocket or guide wheel could be clogged; if so, remove the debris.

      Jason GonzalezAug 15, 2025
If your GreenWorks Chainsaw does not start, first, ensure the chain brake is disengaged by pulling it towards you. Next, check that the battery is properly secured, making sure the latches on the battery compartment snap into place. Also, the battery pack may be depleted, so charge it. Finally, if the battery and power tool are too hot or cold, let them adjust to a suitable temperature.

Why is my GreenWorks Chainsaw motor running, but cutting abnormal?
    • D
      Daniel FarmerAug 27, 2025
If the GreenWorks Chainsaw motor is running but cutting abnormally, and stops after about 10 seconds, recharge the battery. If the unit cuts off and beeps during a cut, release the trigger and restart the chainsaw, avoiding forcing the cut. Ensure the chain is always lubricated. If the battery storage temperature is incorrect, allow the battery pack to cool until it drops to room temperature.
