To check, use a voltmeter to measure the A/C voltage output. It should read between 18 and 22 volts A/C on the low voltage side when the doorbell is not in use. If it's below 18 volts, you should replace the transformer. * The push button could be defective. Remove it from the door frame, disconnect the wires, and touch the bare wires together.
