The XL Mobile two-way mobile radio complies with the following RF energy exposure standards and
guidelines:
United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Code of Federal Regulations; 47 CFR
§ 2 sub-part J.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)
C95.1-2005.
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) C95.1-2005.
IC Standard RSS-102, Issue 5, 2015: Spectrum Management and Telecommunications Radio
Standards Specification. Radio Frequency (RF) Exposure Compliance of Radiocommunication
Apparatus (All Frequency Bands).
Based on the highest radiated RF power and the highest antenna gain in antennas to be used with XL
Mobile, the distances listed are considered as safe distances for controlled and uncontrolled environments
with the XL Mobile radio transmitting at a maximum 50% duty cycle.
1.4.1 Mobile Antennas
The antenna(s) for the radio must be installed in accordance with the antenna installation procedures
presented in the radio’s Installation Manual. Refer to the Section 5.2 on page 23 for the respective
publication number. Installation guidelines presented in the Installation Manuals are limited to metal-
body motor vehicles or vehicles with appropriate ground planes.
Use only approved/supplied antenna(s) or an approved replacement antenna. Unauthorized antennas,
modifications, or attachments can cause the FCC RF exposure limits to be exceeded. Refer to Section 4
for the list of approved antennas.
