MAINTENANCE
Awarmchainiscorrectlytensionedwhentheflats
onthetiestrapshangapproximately.050inches
outofthebargroove.Thetipofthecombination
wrenchprovidedisapproximatelythissizeand
canbeusedtohelpdetermineifawarmchainis
correctly tensioned.
If adjustment is needed:
Stopthemotor.
Removethebatterypackbefore youdo any
work on the chain saw.
Loosen the bar mounting nuts to finger tight.
Raisethetipoftheguidebarandcontinueto
holdupuntiltheendofthisprocedure.
Turn the chain tensioning screw clockwise until
theflatsonthetiestrapsofthechaincontact
thebar,makingsurethedrivelinksareseated
insidethebargroove.
NOTE: Acold chainis correctly tensioned
when there is no slack on the underside of
the guide bar, the chain is snug, and it can be
turned by hand without binding.
Retighten the bar mounting nuts securely.
Lowerthetipoftheguidebarandverifythe
chain is now correctly tensioned using the
guidelinesabove.
NOTE: If the chain is too tight and will not rotate,
loosen the bar nuts slightly, then turn the chain
tensioningscrew1/4turncounterclockwise.Lift
upthetipoftheguidebar,retightenthebarnuts
securely,thenverifythechainwillnowrotate
without binding.
Retensionthechainwhenevertheflatsonthe
drivelinkshangoutofthebargroove.
NOTE: Duringnormalsawoperation,thetem-
peratureofthechainincreases.Thedrivelinks
of a correctly tensioned warm chain will hang
approximately0.050in.outofthebargroove.
Thetip of the supplied combinationwrench
canbeusedasaguidetohelpdeterminethe
correct warm chain tension.
NOTE: New chainstend tostretch; check
the chain tension frequently andtension as
required.
