Preparatory activities
Step Activity
1 Remove dirt in the area of the cover (3).
2 Remove the fixing screws (1) with seal rings (2).
3 Take off the cover (3) with the gasket (4). Always replace the
gasket (4) and seal rings (2).
Adjustment method
Cylinder 1 = flywheel side – clockwise sense of rotation.
Cylinder 2 = power take-off side – counter-clockwise sense of rotation.
Step Activity
1 Turn the engine in the sense of rotation until the valves of the
2nd cylinder start to overlap (outlet valve not yet closed, intake
valve begins to open).
2 Turn the crankshaft by 180° in the sense of rotation, and check
the valves of the 1st cylinder and adjust if necessary.
3 Continue to turn the crankshaft by 180° in the sense of rotation,
and check the valves of the 2nd cylinder.
