Overview

This document provides a troubleshooting guide and spare parts list for the Hayward AquaVac 250Li robotic pool cleaner.

Function Description

The AquaVac 250Li is a robotic pool cleaner designed to autonomously clean the bottom of swimming pools. It operates underwater, collecting debris into an internal canister. The cleaner is equipped with a swivel head for maneuverability and diffusers to manage water flow. It is battery-powered and requires charging.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Charging Time: The cleaner typically charges in 4.5-5 hours.
  • Charging Indicator: A series of four lights indicate the charging status. Four lights ON means fully charged (up to 120 minutes left of usage). The last light blinking indicates only 10 minutes of usage remains.
  • Battery: The battery is not user-replaceable. Attempting to replace it will void the warranty.
  • Charging Block/Adapter: Only the provided charging block or adapter should be used. Using a different one will void the warranty.
  • Pool Slope Limitation: The cleaner is not intended for pools with a slope of more than 15 degrees.
  • Water Sensor: The cleaner has a water sensor, and all tests for operation should be performed underwater. A wet towel or two fingers can be used for testing if underwater operation is not feasible.

Usage Features

  • Autonomous Operation: The cleaner operates independently once placed in the pool.
  • Debris Collection: It collects debris into a removable canister.
  • Maneuverability: The swivel head allows for smooth rotation and movement across the pool bottom.
  • Diffuser Adjustment: Diffusers can be adjusted according to the operation manual recommendations to optimize cleaning coverage.
  • Water Circulation Management: To prevent strong water circulation from affecting cleaner operation, it may be necessary to stop filtration before using the cleaner, especially in round Above Ground (ABG) pools.
  • Pool Returns: If pool returns interfere with the cleaner's flap, they may need to be re-oriented toward the surface of the pool.

Maintenance Features

  • Debris Canister Cleaning: The debris canister should be emptied and cleaned regularly. Suction ports should also be verified and cleaned as needed.
  • Charging Cable and Adapter: If the cleaner does not charge or start, the charging cable and adapter should be checked and potentially replaced.
  • Swivel Head Inspection: The swivel O-ring should be verified for proper installation and condition to ensure smooth rotation of the head. If damaged, it should be replaced. If installed upside down, it should be re-installed correctly.
  • Side Flap Inspection: The side flap should be checked to ensure it comes back to a full vertical position. If it is cracked or not moving freely, it should be replaced.
  • Pump Suction Port Cleaning: If strange sounds are coming from the swivel head (pump), debris stuck in the pump suction port should be verified and cleaned with a garden hose. If the issue persists, the swivel head may need replacement.
  • Filter Cover: The filter cover (RCX203509) is a replaceable part.
  • Whole Base Unit: The whole base unit (RCX2035ASM06) is a replaceable component.

Troubleshooting Guide Summary

A. Failing out of the box:

  • Ensure the cleaner is tested underwater. It will only operate underwater.
  • If fully charged but not operating, charge for 4-5 hours, then retest.
  • If still not working, test with a new charging cable and check the LED color on the charger. If red, charge for 5 minutes and check motor operation underwater. If green, replace the cable.
  • If still not working, test with a new adapter and check the LED color. If red, charge for 5 minutes and check motor operation underwater. If green, replace the charging adapter.
  • If the issue persists after replacing the cable and adapter, consider replacing the swivel head.

B. Does not restart/stop working after few seconds of operation:

  • This category is listed but no specific troubleshooting steps are provided in the flow chart for this failure type directly. However, the general troubleshooting steps for "Failing out of the box" might apply.

C. Does not charge:

  • Refer to the troubleshooting steps for "Failing out of the box" regarding charging cable, adapter, and LED indicators.

D. Does not operate well underwater (get stuck against wall or obstacle, get stuck in rotating mode):

  • Debris canister full: Empty canister, verify all suction ports, and clean if needed.
  • Bad trajectory/Swivel head turn slowly/Cleaner speed abnormally low/Cleaner stop in pool:
    • Verify swivel O-ring for proper installation and condition (Fig. 1). Replace if damaged. Re-install if upside down.
    • Verify side flap position and engagement (Fig. 2). Replace if cracked or not moving freely.
  • Strong water circulation: Stop filtration before using the cleaner (especially in round ABG pools).
  • Pool returns interference: Re-orient pool returns toward the surface of the pool.

E. Inadequate pool coverage:

  • Cleaner's movement affected by strong water circulation: Shut down filtration when operating the cleaner.
  • Pool bottom not flat or cleaner encounters obstacles: Re-position the cleaner, remove obstacles. Cleaner is not for pools with slope > 15 degrees.
  • Verify orientation of diffusers (Fig. 3): Adjust diffusers per operation manual recommendations.

F. Inadequate debris pick-up:

  • Turn off cleaner and verify debris canister and suction ports (Fig. 3): Clean canister and suction ports if debris are stuck or canister is packed.

G. Strange sound:

  • Strange sound coming from swivel head (pump):
    • Verify if debris is stuck in the pump suction port. If yes, clean with a garden hose.
    • If no, replace the swivel head.
