The HBX SensorLinx™ Pressure Sensor is a microprocessor-based metering system designed to measure and record thermal energy in residential or commercial heating or cooling systems, including HVAC, solar thermal heating, and geothermal applications. It can be used individually to track various system parameters in real-time via the HBX ThermoLinx™ App. When integrated into a liquid system, the SensorLinx™ sensors enable accurate heat measurement.
Function Description:
The SensorLinx™ Pressure Sensor measures temperature and pressure within a liquid system. It provides real-time data on these parameters, which can be accessed and monitored through the HBX ThermoLinx™ App. The device is designed to be part of a larger system for thermal energy measurement, especially when paired with a flow sensor (WFS) in a heat meter configuration. The sensor features Wi-Fi connectivity (2.4GHz network only) to communicate with the ThermoLinx™ App and a server, allowing for remote monitoring and data logging. It also includes a thermistor input for an optional temperature sensor (e.g., tank temperature) and a modulating output (0.5VDC - 3.5VDC) to modulate other devices. An optional triac output (24VAC, 0.5A Max) can energize a relay.

Usage Features:
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: The sensor connects to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, allowing users to monitor data remotely via the HBX ThermoLinx™ App on Android or iOS devices.
- ThermoLinx™ App Integration: The app provides a user-friendly interface to:
- View real-time temperature, flow, and pressure data.
- Adjust relay output, fluid type, and thermistor settings.
- Access sensor information, including type and serial number.
- Set alarm notifications for flow, temperature, and pressure.
- View current heat measurement and lifetime heat accumulation (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly).
- Access current and historical heat measurement data through bar graphs, line graphs, and raw data.
- Installation Flexibility: The sensor can be mounted vertically or horizontally within a 180-degree arc. However, it cannot be mounted pointing below the horizontal line or downwards.
- LED Indicators: The device features LED lights (Red, Green, Blue) to indicate its status, including server connection, ready status, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Solid LEDs indicate a successful connection, while specific combinations (e.g., solid green only, solid red and green) indicate connection issues or server communication problems.
- Sync Code and PIN: Each sensor has a unique Sync Code and PIN for secure identification and pairing with the ThermoLinx™ App.
- Optional Outputs: Includes an optional thermistor input for additional temperature sensing and an optional modulating output (0.5-3.5VDC) for device modulation. A triac output (24VAC, 0.5A max) can energize a relay.
Maintenance Features:
- Easy Access for Maintenance: Designed for installation in locations that facilitate periodic maintenance.
- Shut-off Valves: Installation recommends shut-off valves upstream and downstream of the sensors to aid in maintenance and installation.
- Strainer/Filtering Device: A strainer or other filtering device should be installed upstream of the flow and pressure sensors to protect the unit.
- Sensor Replacement: In a heat meter configuration, if either the WFS (Flow Sensor) or WPS (Pressure Sensor) fails, both sensors must be replaced as they come pre-paired.
- Storage: The unit should be stored in its original carton within an ambient temperature range of +10°C to +40°C, with relative humidity less than 95% if possible. It should not be stored in corrosive environments or unstable surfaces.
Safety and Warnings:
- Extreme Hazard: Actions that could lead to personal injury, death, or permanent equipment damage.
- Moderate Hazard: Actions that may cause personal injury or adverse effects on installation if handled incorrectly.
- Disconnect Power Source: Always disconnect power (24VAC or 120VAC) to prevent personal injury or damage.
- Qualified Personnel: Only suitably qualified individuals with formal training in electrical and HVAC controls should attempt installation.
- Grounding: The WPS Sensor must be grounded to the pipe.
- No Pipe Tape/Dope: Do not use pipe tape or dope on threads.
- Fluid Viscosity: For fluids other than water, kinematic viscosity must be less than or equal to 2 mm²/s (cSt), as viscosity affects heat measurement calculations.
- Water Hammer Prevention: When filling the system, slowly increase initial flow and pressure to prevent water hammer, which can damage the sensor.
- Network Name/Password Restrictions: Home network names cannot exceed 30 characters, and passwords should not contain special characters. Connections are limited to 2.4GHz networks.
- Port 1314: If the green and red LEDs are solid, port 1314 on the router may need to be opened to allow communication with the HBX server.
- California Proposition 65 Warning: This product may expose users to chemicals including lead, known to cause cancer and birth defects.
