How to fix a HearthStone 8321 when the pilot won't light?
    • C
      Carol BennettJul 31, 2025
If the pilot light on your HearthStone Heater won't ignite, here are a few things to check: * First, try lighting the pilot using the piezo sparker. If it doesn't light, check the inlet gas pressure. * The pilot orifice might be plugged, so try cleaning or replacing the pilot assembly. * Inspect the electrode gap and location; it should be a 1/8" gap in the flame area. If a match lights the pilot, this could be the issue. * Ensure there's a good connection between the igniter and electrode, and check the wire insulation. If properly connected and there's no spark, replace the igniter. * If the heater has been sitting for a while, the pilot assembly may be dirty. Try cleaning or replacing it.

HearthStone 8321 Heater pilot and burner go out after warm-up: what's wrong?
    • S
      Sydney MurrayAug 14, 2025
If your HearthStone Heater's pilot and burner light but then go out after warming up, here are a few possible reasons: * There may be an inconsistent or insufficient flame on the thermopile. Adjust the pilot flame size and make sure the flame is aimed directly at the thermopile. * Insufficient gas pressure could be the issue. Check the line pressure to ensure the correct inlet pressure is present for the type of gas being used. If propane pressure is inconsistent, check for water condensation at the regulator. * Excessive draft may also cause this issue. Check Restriction settings per this manual.

How do I stop frequent pilot light outages in my HearthStone Heater?
    • J
      Jill SmithAug 19, 2025
To address frequent pilot light outages in your HearthStone Heater, consider the following: * The pilot flame may be too low or blowing (high), causing the pilot safety to drop out. Clean and/or adjust the pilot flame for maximum impingement on the thermopile and thermocouple. * Excessive draft could also be a factor. Check Restriction settings per this manual.

Why does my HearthStone Heater have a delayed ignition and "whoosh" noise?
    • T
      Teresa MartinezAug 26, 2025
A delayed ignition in your HearthStone Heater, characterized by a sudden "whoosh" sound, indicates a buildup of gas before ignition. This is more common with propane fuel. Possible causes include: * Incorrect air-to-fuel ratio. Adjust the air shutter for a proper burn. Also, check the burner ports for blockages and open them to allow for proper flame travel. * Improper log placement. Reposition the logs to eliminate interference with flame travel.

What to do if the HearthStone 8321 Heater pilot light won't stay lit?
    • K
      Kelly RothNov 3, 2025
If your HearthStone Heater's pilot light won't stay lit after following the lighting instructions, consider these potential causes: * Check the gas pressure to ensure it's neither too low nor too high for the gas being used. * Measure the voltage between the valve body and the solder connection on the rear of the valve (where the blue wire connects). It should be no less than 7 mV. Faulty connections may be the reason. * Make sure the thermocouple connection at the gas valve is tight. Check the thermocouple output using a milli-volt meter; if the reading is less than 15 mV, replace the pilot assembly. * If burning natural gas (NG), check that the pilot flame is hitting the top of the thermocouple. Clean or replace the pilot for maximum flame impingement. * The pilot may be dirt...

Why is my HearthStone Heater pilot burning but no gas to the main burner?
    • A
      austinmaldonadoNov 8, 2025
If the pilot light is on, but no gas is reaching the main burner on your HearthStone Heater, with the valve knob and thermostat in the "ON" position, consider the following: * The thermostat switch or wiring might be defective. Check the thermostat and wiring for proper connections. Place a jumper wire across the terminals at the thermostat. If the burner comes on, replace the thermostat. If it doesn't, place the jumper across the thermostat wires at the gas valve. If the burner comes on, tighten the connections or replace any faulty wires. * The thermopile may not be generating enough voltage. Use a milli-volt meter to check the thermopile output across the generator terminals of the gas valve. The reading should be greater than 325 mV. If not, replace the pilot assembly. If the mete...
