How to troubleshoot main power problems in my Heat Controller HBH/V Compact Heat Pump?
    • J
      Jill SmithAug 17, 2025
To troubleshoot main power issues, start by checking the line voltage circuit breaker and disconnect if the green status LED is off. Also, check for line voltage between L1 and L2 on the contactor, verify 24VAC between R and C on the CXM/DXM, and inspect the primary/secondary voltage on the transformer.

What to do if my Heat Controller Heat Pump only runs the fan?
    • C
      christina75Aug 19, 2025
If only the fan is running, first, ensure the thermostat is set for heating or cooling operation. Check for any lockout codes and try resetting the power. Inspect the compressor overload and replace it if necessary. Also, verify the thermostat wiring at the heat pump; you can jumper Y and R for compressor operation in test mode.

Why does my Heat Controller Heat Pump have a HP Fault-Code 2 High pressure?
    • S
      Scott FloresAug 22, 2025
A high-pressure fault could be due to reduced or no water flow in cooling, so check the pump or valve operation. It could also be due to water temperature being out of range, so bring the water temperature within design parameters. In heating mode, check for a dirty air filter and clean or replace it, or check the fan motor operation and airflow restrictions. Also consider whether the unit is overcharged with refrigerant; check superheat/subcooling, or if the HP switch is bad; check its continuity and operation and replace if needed.

What causes a Heat Controller HBH/V Compact Heat Pump to short cycle?
    • L
      Lori WagnerAug 26, 2025
Short cycling can be caused by a dirty air filter; check and clean it. The unit might be in "Test Mode"; reset the power or wait 20 minutes for auto exit. The unit may also be oversized for the space; check the sizing for the actual load. Finally, a compressor overload could be the issue; check and replace if necessary.

What does it mean when my Heat Controller HBH/V Compact shows FP1 Fault - Code 4 Water Coil low temperature limit?
    • L
      Lisa ClineAug 27, 2025
This fault indicates a low temperature limit on the water coil. Check for reduced or no water flow in heating by inspecting the pump or water valve operation. A plugged strainer or filter could also be the cause, so clean or replace it. Ensure adequate antifreeze level by checking the antifreeze density with a hydrometer. Verify the temperature limit setting and clip the JW3 jumper for antifreeze use if needed. Also, bring the water temperature within design parameters, and check the thermistor's temperature and impedance correlation per the chart.

What does LP/LOC Fault-Code 3 mean on my Heat Controller HBH/V Compact?
    • E
      Erin DyerAug 30, 2025
This fault indicates low pressure or loss of charge. Check for refrigerant leaks and also check the charge and start-up water flow.

What causes a Condensate Fault-Code 6 in my Heat Controller HBH/V Compact Heat Pump?
    • J
      Joseph BrightSep 2, 2025
A condensate fault can be caused by a blocked drain; check for blockage and clean the drain. An improper trap can also cause this, so check the trap dimensions and location ahead of the vent. Poor drainage can be another cause; check for piping slope away from the unit, as well as the slope of the unit toward the outlet. Additionally, check the vent location for poor venting and inspect for moisture shorting to the air coil.

What does FP2 fault - Code 5 Air Coil low temperature limit mean for Heat Controller HBH/V Compact?
    • B
      beardjenniferSep 5, 2025
This fault indicates a low temperature limit on the air coil. Check for a dirty air filter and clean or replace it. Also, check the fan motor operation and airflow restrictions. Ensure that the external static isn't too high by checking the static vs blower table. Bring the entering air temperature within design parameters, ensure the temperature limit setting is correct and check the thermistor's temperature and impedance correlation per chart.

What does Unit Performance Sentinel-Code 8 mean for Heat Controller Heat Pump?
    • J
      James GomezSep 7, 2025
In heating mode, if FP2 is greater than 125°F [52°C], check for poor air flow or an overcharged unit. In cooling mode, if FP1 is greater than 125°F [52°C] or FP2 is less than 40°F [4°C], check for poor water flow or air flow.

What does Over/Under Voltage- Code 7 mean for Heat Controller HBH/V Compact Heat Pump?
    • P
      Paula LinSep 12, 2025
This code indicates an over or under voltage condition. If it's an undervoltage issue, check the power supply and 24VAC voltage before and during operation, as well as the power supply wire size. Also, check the compressor starting to see if a hard start kit is needed, and verify the 24VAC and unit transformer tap for correct power supply voltage. If it's an overvoltage issue, check the power supply voltage and 24VAC before and during operation, and again, check the 24VAC and unit transformer tap for correct power supply voltage.
