Overview

This document serves as a Quick Start Guide for the LongPlus smart battery camera, providing essential information for its setup, operation, and maintenance. The camera is designed for both battery-powered and AC-powered supply, offering flexibility in placement and usage.

Function Description:

The LongPlus camera is a wireless smart battery camera primarily used for surveillance and monitoring. It features a lens, infrared lamp, white light, indicator light, MIC, and a human body infrared sensor for comprehensive detection and recording. The camera is equipped with Wi-Fi antennas for wireless connectivity and includes a speaker for audio output. It supports local storage via a Micro-SD card slot and has a Micro-USB port for charging. A power button and a reboot hole are also integrated for device control and troubleshooting.

Usage Features:

  1. App Integration: The camera operates in conjunction with a dedicated mobile application, available for both Android and iOS devices. Users are required to download and install the "LongPlus" app by scanning a QR code provided in the guide.
  2. Device Setup:
    • Adding the Device: After installing the app, users sign in, connect to Wi-Fi, and add the device by following on-screen prompts. It's recommended to bring the device close to the router during configuration.
    • Wi-Fi Connection: The camera connects to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Users enter the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password in the app. The camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi or enterprise-level authentication.
    • QR Code Pairing: A QR code is generated in the app for pairing. Users press the camera's power switch for 6 seconds to turn it on, and the camera emits a "Ding Dong Ding Dong" sound. The camera's lens is then pointed at the QR code on the mobile phone, held at a distance of about 20 cm (7 inches), until a "Ding" sound is heard, indicating a successful connection.
    • Device Naming and Placement: Upon successful connection, users can set a name for the device in the app and select its intended location.
  3. Installation Flexibility: The camera can be placed on a shelf or other flat surfaces, or it can be mounted on a wall.
    • Optimal Placement: When installing, it's crucial to select a spot where the camera's view is not blocked and it's within Wi-Fi network coverage. The PIR infrared sensor is more sensitive to movements across its field of view.
    • Outdoor Use: For outdoor installations, the camera should be installed upside down to maximize waterproof performance and the effectiveness of the human body infrared sensor.
    • Bracket Installation: The camera can be fixed to a bracket using screws, which can then be mounted to a wall or ceiling. The camera is secured to the bracket by screwing it in upside down.
  4. Sharing Functionality: The camera can be shared with other family members or friends.
    • Admin User Steps: The admin user (who first added the camera) can share access by navigating to the camera's settings in the app, clicking the share button, and generating a QR code.
    • Shared User Steps: Invited users download the LongPlus app, go to the homepage, click the "+" sign, select "Add Friends' Camera," and scan the QR code provided by the admin user. They then send an access request to the admin.
  5. Recording: If the recording duration is set to "Auto," the camera will record video for up to 3 minutes when motion is detected.
  6. Video Playback: Videos can be viewed by category. Users click the icon in the upper left corner of the "Library" page in the app to filter videos by category, then select the desired category and click "Save" to view playbacks.
  7. Night Vision: The camera features built-in infrared lamp beads, which emit dim red lights when night vision is activated, providing clear images even in low-light environments.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Charging: The app will notify users when the battery is low. The camera is charged using a Micro USB cable connected to a 5V/1.5A charging adapter.
    • Indicator Light Status during Charging: During charging, the indicator light is solid yellow. Once fully charged, it turns solid green. A full charge takes approximately 15 hours.
  2. Firmware Upgrade: The app will prompt users if a new firmware version is available. Users can also manually check for updates in the app's settings.
    • Upgrade Precautions: Before upgrading, ensure the camera is fully charged or connected to a power adapter. Do not interrupt the power supply during the upgrade process.
  3. Troubleshooting (Malfunction): If the device malfunctions, users can long-press the power button for 3 seconds to restart it. If there is no response, the rubber plug at the bottom of the camera can be removed, and a pointed object can be used to press the reboot hole to restart the camera.
  4. Binding Troubleshooting: The guide provides solutions for common binding issues, such as "Wi-Fi Password Error," "Authentication error" (related to enterprise-level Wi-Fi), "Wi-Fi not found" (related to incorrect Wi-Fi name, distance from router, or 5GHz Wi-Fi), "Retrieving IP timeout" (related to too many connected devices or router issues), and "Cloud service connection fail" (related to router's external network connection or local area network server issues).
  5. Location Permission for iOS: For Apple devices with iOS 13 and above, users need to enable "location permission" for the app in system settings and set it to "allow when using" to ensure Wi-Fi name visibility during connection.
