Overview

The Hilti TE 25 is a robust rotary hammer drill designed for efficient drilling and light chiseling in concrete, masonry, and stone. Its primary function is to provide powerful hammering action combined with rotation for fast and effective material removal, as well as rotary-only drilling for various applications.

Function Description

The TE 25 operates by transmitting both rotary and hammering actions to the drill bit, making it highly effective for drilling into tough materials like concrete. Users can select between two main operating modes: rotary hammer drilling and rotary drilling only. Rotary hammer drilling is ideal for tasks requiring significant impact, such as creating holes for anchors or rebar. In this mode, the tool delivers a high number of blows per minute in addition to rotation. For applications where impact is not needed, such as drilling into wood or metal with appropriate accessories, the rotary drilling only mode can be selected, which disengages the hammering mechanism.

The tool features a robust motor that provides consistent power under load, ensuring reliable performance even in demanding conditions. Its design prioritizes user control and safety, incorporating features that allow for precise operation and protection against common hazards. The TE 25 is also designed with a focus on durability, utilizing materials and construction methods that withstand the rigors of construction site environments.

Usage Features

Operating the TE 25 involves several user-friendly features. The tool is designed to be held with two hands, ensuring a secure grip and better control during operation. Before starting, users are reminded to ensure a safe stance and foothold. The electric supply must match the specifications on the tool's nameplate, and importantly, the TE 25 is double insulated, meaning it does not require grounding.

Inserting a TE-C-drill bit or tool is straightforward: the connection end is inserted, turned until the grooves engage, and then pushed in further while pulling back the sleeve. Releasing the sleeve locks the tool in place. To remove the tool, the sleeve is pulled back, and the tool is withdrawn.

The setting lever allows for easy switching between rotary hammer drilling and rotary drilling only modes. For rotary hammer drilling, the lever is shifted to the indicated symbol, engaging both rotation and hammering. For rotary drilling only, the lever is moved to its respective symbol, providing rotation without impact.

The TE 25 also features a chuck changing mechanism. To remove the chuck, the sleeve is turned to the right. When attaching, the chuck is pressed on until it touches the striker, and the sleeve is then turned to the left to lock it securely. This ensures that the chuck is always properly fastened before use.

The tool offers two speed settings, allowing users to select the appropriate speed for the task at hand. It is crucial not to change speeds while the TE 25 is under load to prevent damage and extend the life of both the tool and the drill bit. Applying excessive pressure is not recommended, as it does not increase performance; instead, users should simply position the bit and guide it into the hole.

For light-duty chiseling, the TE 25 can be used with an additional chisel adaptor from Hilti. It is critical never to use a chisel directly in the TE-C chuck, as this can cause accidents and significantly reduce the tool's lifespan. Separate operating instructions are provided for the chisel adaptor. The tool can also be used for rotary drilling with an additional quick-release chuck from Hilti, which involves a specific procedure for attachment and locking.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is essential for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the Hilti TE 25. A key maintenance aspect involves cleaning and lubricating the drill bit connection ends. Since the chuck is not integrated into the lubricating system of the TE 25, regular cleaning and lubrication with Hilti grease are necessary. This helps prevent wear and ensures smooth operation.

In colder temperatures, the start-up time can be shortened by briefly jolting the drill bit against the work surface when starting the TE 25. This helps to warm up the internal components and prepare the tool for operation.

For any servicing needs, it is emphasized that electric tools must comply with respective safety regulations. Therefore, servicing should only be carried out by qualified electrical specialists. For safety and to maintain warranty validity, only original Hilti spare parts should be used for repairs and replacements. The tool is designed with a dust-tight enclosure and permanent lubrication, making it largely maintenance-free in terms of internal lubrication. This reduces the need for frequent internal servicing.

The TE 25 also incorporates automatic cut-out brushes, which are a maintenance feature designed to protect the motor. When the carbon brushes wear down to a certain point, they automatically cut out, preventing damage to the motor commutator. This signals the user that the brushes need replacement, a task that should be performed by qualified personnel using original Hilti parts.
