Using your TV in a hotel or dorm room
Hotels, school dorms, conference facilies, and similar locaons with public wireless Internet access oen require you to
interact with a web page to authencate your access. These restricted public networks are commonly known as capve
portal networks. When you select a network of this type, the TV automacally detects that addional informaon is
needed and prompts you through using another wireless device to supply the requested informaon.
• Using your Roku TV on a hotel or dorm room network requires wireless availability and use of your net-
work-connected smartphone, tablet, or computer to authencate access to your wireless access point
• Your TV must already be running soware version 7.0 or later. You can nd the version number by nav-
igang from the Home screen to > System > About. If it is running an earlier soware version,
you must use a non-restricted network to link and acvate the TV, and then update the soware to
version 7.0.
• Be sure to bring your Roku TV remote control, because the Remote feature of the Roku mobile app may
not work when connected to a hotel or dorm room network.
• Content might be limited or unavailable if you try to connect outside your home country due to geo-lter-
ing.
1. Either during Guided Setup or aer using the
2. menu to set up a new connecon, the TV automacally detects that you are connecng to a restricted network
and displays the following prompt:
: Your TV can connect to a restricted network only if Device connect is enabled in Sengs > System >
Advanced system sengs. (Device connect is enabled by default, but if you have disabled it, the TV cannot
complete the connecon.)
Device connect is not present if the TV is in non-connected mode.
3. Aer selecng the correct network, highlight , and then press OK. The TV
prompts you to use your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to complete the connecon.
