8-8 Climate Controls
Note:

If windscreen demist is set, no
air will be directed to the rear
vents.
.
Pressing AUTO (D) switches all
system functions to automatic
control.

Pressing ON (E) switches the air
to the rear, off or on.
s appears on the rear displays
when rear passenger controls
are off.
Regular operation
Automatic
It is not necessary to set a cooler or
hotter temperature than required to
ensure fast cooling or heating.
Leave the system in automatic
operation to:
.
Turn the air conditioning on
and off.
.
Vary the temperature of the air
entering the cabin.
.
Switch between recirculate or
fresh air.
.
Vary the fan speed.
.
Alter vent selection.
Starting
1. When cold, the system starts in
/ mode with the fan off.
2. Warm air is then directed to the
floor outlets.
3. Air is directed through selected
vents.
4. Adjust vents manually.
Engine performance/fuel economy
A small decrease in engine power
and a slight increase in fuel
consumption will be noticed when
the air conditioning is in use.
At high speeds or during heavy
acceleration the air conditioning
may switch off momentarily.
Adjusting the temperature
When the climate control system
has stabilised, adjust settings
one degree at a time.
Quick cool down
When entering the vehicle on a hot
day, open the windows for a s hort
time to allow t he hot air to escape
before operating the air
conditioning.
Ignition keys
For vehicles equipped with personal
identity keys, pressing
K sets the
climate control to the last
adjustments used for that key. See
“Personal identity keys” under Keys
on page 2‑1.
Automatic transmission
If the vehicle is stopped for a long
time in hot weather with the engine
running and the air conditi oning
operating, move the gear lever to N
or P.
