Additives are available to extend the life of fuel. Use these exactly in accordance with the instructions of
the additive. Honda advises to use Aspen 4-stroke fuels if the engine is not operated frequently. This
fuel can be stored up to two years without losing its combustion capabilities.
7 Troubleshooting
7.1 General
Consult the Holmatro dealer if the listed solutions do not give the desired result, or in case of other
problems.
For malfunctions or repair, always specify the model and serial number of the equipment
7.2 The engine does not start

CAUTION
• Do not use dirty fuel and make sure no dirt, dust or water enters the fuel tank to prevent
damage to the engine.
• Use a plastic jerrycan in stead of a steel one to prevent for rust parts in the petrol.
• Always keep fuel in a clean jerrycan, stored in a dry and dark space with a constant
temperature.
• Use fuel with an Ethanol value as low as possible, but never exceeding 10%.
NOTICE
If the pump has to be sent away for repairs, make sure that the fuel tank is empty and the
engine oil has been removed.
Also make sure that the fuel cap de-aeration button (Fig. 2/2) and the hydraulic oil filler cap
(Fig. 2/3) are set to closed.
Possible cause Solution
The engine switch is set to "0". Set the engine switch to "1’.
The choke lever is in the wrong position. For a cold engine set the choke lever to the right,
and for a hot engine set the choke lever to the left.
The de-aeration button on the fuel cap is in the
OFF position.
Set the de-aeration button of the fuel cap in the
ON position.
The fuel has run out or fuel is old. Fill the fuel tank. Make sure the pump is on level
surface.
The pump is leaning at an angle greater than 20°. Make sure that the pump is leaning at an angle
less than 20°.
The engine oil level is too low. Add engine oil. Make sure the pump is on level
surface.
The spark plug cap is loose. Put the spark plug cap on the spark plug.
The spark plug does not spark. Clean and dry the spark plug.
The temperature of the pump is too high. Let the pump cool down. Check that the
deadman’s handle of the tool returns to the neutral
position.
